President Joe Biden is set to deliver his first State of the Union address before Congress, where the House of Representatives is controlled by Republicans and the Senate by Democrats, making it more divided than ever before. Good luck getting this group of individuals to agree on anything. I guarantee all of these folks would likely find a way to argue over the color of feces. Then again, if the legislature is split and nothing gets passed or done, that might be a good thing. After all, we want smaller government, right? At least this puts a stop gap on its expansion.
Ever since Biden became president in January 2021, Biden had Vice President Kamala Harris, a California Democrat, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, also from California, standing or sitting behind him as he delivered talks at the U.S. Capitol building. However, for the first time, he’ll have to feel the eyes of Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy burning a hole through the back of his head. You can almost feel him sweating already.
McCarthy posted up a video on Twitter where he more or less said that he will not be performing “theatrics” like those put on full display by Pelosi when she ripped up former President Donald Trump’s State of the Union Speech back in 2020.
“I don’t believe in the theatrics of tearing up speeches,” McCarthy remarked. “I respect the other side. I can disagree on policy, but I want to make sure this country is stronger, economically sound, energy independent, secure, and accountable.”

“Still, while McCarthy may be going for restraint in the House chamber Tuesday evening, Biden will be speaking as Republicans ramp up all sorts of investigations involving the president, his administration, and his family,” the Daily Wire reported.
The report continued, “Biden’s speech set for 9 p.m. ET will argue the ‘state of the economy is strong’ emerging from a years-long pandemic, and preview Biden’s budget request next month, according to a White House fact sheet. The president is also expected to announce new policies meant to advance his four-part ‘Unity Agenda,’ which includes fighting cancer, helping veterans, improving mental health, and stopping opioid use and overdoses.”
So what are some issues that might be included in Biden’s comments at the SOTU? Well, we’re likely to see some influence from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which is about to hit the one-year mark very soon, along with domestic issues that include border security, high inflation, and the Chinese spy balloon and classified documents scandal.
“Arkansas Republican Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served as Trump’s White House press secretary, will deliver the formal GOP rebuttal to Biden’s address on Tuesday,” the report said.
“What America needs – and what Republicans are offering – is a return to common sense and a commitment to the ideals that made America the land of the free and home of the brave,” she went on to say upon being chosen.
Rep. Juan Ciscomani, a Republican from Arizona, will be delivering the Spanish-language version of the GOP response to the address.
“The White House released a list of guests who will be sitting with the president’s wife, first lady Jill Biden, during the State of the Union address. Among them are Ukraine Ambassador Oksana Markarova and Holocaust survivor Ruth Cohen,” the Daily Wire report stated.

Guess who else is planning to attend the State of the Union? None other than Paul Pelosi, the 82-year-old husband of former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who just a few months ago survived a brutal assault with a hammer by an intruder in the couple’s San Francisco home. RowVaughn and Rodney Wells, who is the mother and stepfather of Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old man that was allegedly beaten to death by law enforcement officials in Memphis, Tennessee.
Biden’s current job approval rating is pretty much swirling around the toilet bowl, hovering between the low-to-mid 40s, which is where it has been sitting ever since the beginning of the new year. While Biden is expected to claim our economy is “resilient,” though four in ten Americans have stated in a recent poll that they are financially worse off since Biden came into the presidency.
“The president has said he intends to run for re-election in 2024, and reports indicate a formal announcement could happen around the time of the State of the Union address. Trump, who has already entered the race with his third campaign for the White House, is expected to respond to Biden’s speech Tuesday with his own video, according to NBC News,” the report stated.
