James Bond Latest To Get a Muzzle From Sensitivity Readers

Less than a week after “James and the Giant Peach” and other works by Roald Dahl got the “sensitivity reader” treatment, another James and his giant…gun are getting a similar treatment. It has been announced that so-called sensitivity readers will be altering portions of Ian Fleming’s classic James Bond series of books. Hardcore Bond fans are sure to be shaken AND stirred by the announcement that the woke mob will be tinkering with the classic series. Check this out.

A week after censors edited Roald Dahl’s classic children’s books to remove content deemed objectionable, “sensitivity readers” are rewriting Ian Fleming’s iconic novels about James Bond.

Fleming’s James Bond books are scheduled to be reissued in April to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the publication of “Casino Royale” – the first novel in the 007 franchise.

Ian Fleming Publications Ltd – the company that owns the literary rights to the author’s work – commissioned “sensitivity readers” to pore over the James Bond novels and scrub any offensive content before the republication.

The reissued books will reportedly remove the race and ethnicity of certain characters.

Fleming’s books will have descriptions of black people “reworked or removed.”

Perhaps the movies should be re-edited and voice-overdubbed to remove offensive words. Is every book from the past going to be combed through for anything that might be considered offensive, even if it is true to the language and nomenclature of the time it was written? What kind of fresh hell are we living in? What is unclear is, who are these changes pandering to? If you find something might be offensive, then don’t watch or read!

It’s clear that these changes are being made to appease black readers, as there are ethnic terms and misogyny being left in.

Fleming’s books will have descriptions of black people “reworked or removed.”

“In the sensitivity reader-approved version of ‘Live and Let Die,’ Bond’s assessment that would-be African criminals in the gold and diamond trades are ‘pretty law-abiding chaps I should have thought, except when they’ve drunk too much’ becomes – ‘pretty law-abiding chaps I should have thought.’

The sensitivity readers decided to remove a description of an accent described as “straight Harlem-Deep South with a lot of New York thrown in.”

Racial slurs that denigrate black people which Fleming used in his writing between the 1950s and 1960s will also be removed from the new editions.

The Telegraph noted, “Dated references to other ethnicities remain, such as Bond’s racial terms for east Asian people and the spy’s disparaging views of Oddjob, Goldfinger’s Korean henchman.”

The British media outlet said other expressions that will remain include: “sweet tang of rape,” “blithering women,” “man’s work,” and referring to homosexuality as a “stubborn disability.”

In other words, if you are Asian or female don’t expect any changes. Prepare to be offended, as if many Asians and females are sitting down to their favorite Bond book. However, if you are black, dig right in without fear of any offense. Does this make sense? Of course not. However, the world we live in doesn’t make sense, so this feels par for the course. We live in a society where Asians can be excluded from Ivy League schools for being too smart, and sneaky dudes can be women, so why would we think James Bond would be changed to cater to either of those groups? Next thing you know Bond will be drinking Appletinis.
