Latest Woke Netflix Movie Panned for CGI Kiss Between Black and White Characters

If you have watched any network television, streaming shows, or Hollywood movies lately then surely you have noticed that everyone has black, white, Asian, gay, and trans friends. Don’t we all? We are all hanging out, living our fun-carefree lives with our bi-racial, gay couple friends. Or maybe not. More so than ever, Hollywood isn’t indicative of real life on any level, and audiences are starting to take note. The lack of cohesion, believability and chemistry on screen has become more noticeable as the woke movement has taken deeper root in the entertainment industry. The latest big budget Netflix offering, “You People” featuring Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill, Lauren London, and created by Kenya Barris has a problem. Considering the movie features Eddie Murphy and Jonah Hill, two very funny actors, the flick should have been a slam dunk. Instead, viewers are noting a palpable lack of on-screen chemistry and believability between the two lead characters. Hill is white, London is black, and there appears to be zero on screen chemistry. How bad is it? Co-star and comedian Andrew Schultz recently dropped a bomb on Charlamagne Tha God’s podcast. Schultz had this to say:

“There’s a hilarious thing — I don’t even know if I should share this s—, but the final scene, they don’t even kiss,” Schulz claimed. “It’s CGI. Swear to God.”

Schulz went on to offer more detail when his co-host expressed incredulity that they would use special effects for a kiss, of all things. With all the expenses in the film, wouldn’t it just be easiest to have the two stars lean in and, you know, actually kiss.

“I’m there, I’m watching the wedding, and I see them go in for the kiss, and their faces stop like this far,” Schulz said, holding his hands about six inches apart. “I’m like, ‘I wonder how they’re gonna play that in the movie. Oh, they’re probably just gonna cut right there.’”

Certainly, the movie’s producers didn’t want Schultz to reveal such a cringeworthy detail. However, a lack of believability and chemistry usually can’t be overcome. Did the two actors NOT want to do something as normal as kiss? Or was their chemistry so bad that they knew no one would believe what a real one looked like. The female lead, Lauren London apparently had reservations before filming even began.

 London herself had expressed concerns that this relationship wouldn’t be believable to audiences. She was reluctant to sign on for just that reason, telling Harper’s Bazaar, “I thought, ‘Why would these two people really like each other?”

“We have to showcase a real connection,” she continued. “They’re from two totally different worlds, and if you see them, you would never think that they would meet or hang out, whatever the case is.”

Upon its release, fans quickly started to criticize the film and, exactly as London predicted, they did not buy the chemistry between Hill and London.

London has a valid point. You can’t fake chemistry. White, straight people are often criticized if they aren’t attracted to people of color, or in some cases even trans women. It has gotten to the point where you can’t even have a preference without being labeled a bigot or racist. The truth is, not everyone is attracted to just anyone. We all have our preferences and types. Seeing a chubby white dude like Jonah Hill in a relationship with a black woman has never made sense or felt believable. Throwing Eddie Murphy into the “George Jefferson” role didn’t help. The movie is awkward, unbelievable, and not funny. How about just making a funny movie with the same cast without forcing diversity? Sadly, that’s not what Hollywood is into currently, and audiences are starting to take note.
