Megyn Kelly had some choice words and pointed advice for Sally Field in the wake of her embarrassing apology for being a “white girl” during her SAG Awards speech for her lifetime achievement award. The “Smokey and the Bandit” star diminished her own struggle as a small town girl not blessed with classic beauty in deference to black women, who she just assumed had been oppressed and not received fair opportunities in their own careers. Needless to say, Kelly was not happy and let the world, and her guests Dr. Drew and Adam Carolla know. Check this out.
Megyn Kelly slammed Sally Field after the actress apologized for being white during her acceptance speech for a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday.
During Sirius XM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast, the host spoke with guests Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew Pinsky about what Field said at the SAG Awards — and asked why the star felt the need to say she was “sorry for being a little white girl with privilege.”
There have no doubt been obstacles in Hollywood for women, not just black women. Everyone knows what the casting couch is. Harvey Weinstein made sure of that. Instead of talking about a shared issue that all women have in common, Field instead took the path of least resistance and diverted down the “white privilege” road. Of course, white privilege is a myth that was invented by the woke crowd and the far left to attempt to appeal to black people and further the narrative that whites are just handed a profitable, amazing life. But why bother with the truth, especially in Hollywood, where everything you say could be taken wrong and be your last.
“She’s [Field] very sorry about one thing and that appears to be the fact that she’s white,” Kelly explained. She then played the clip of Field telling the audience, “I was a little white girl with a pug nose born in Pasadena, California. And when I look around this room tonight, I know my fight, as hard as it was, was lightweight compared to some of yours. I thank you. And I applaud you.”
Kelly asked why the actress apologized for being “raised a little white girl and that she wasn’t of a different race with a bigger struggle.”
“Because news flash, white girls in America don’t have any troubles that are worth remembering when you’re in front of a group that has a lot of people of color,” the host sarcastically shared. “It’s such bologna, Dr. Drew. It’s such pathetic, obvious virtue signaling.”
As usual, Megyn is correct in saying what others won’t. Sally Field embarrassed herself and had an opportunity to have a shared moment with women everywhere. In an age where feminism is under attack by sneaky dudes in dresses and fellas wearing one piece bathing suits in the women’s locker room, Field could’ve spoken to something bigger and more important; women’s rights and feminism. Women have indeed overcome a lot, but at the same time much is being taken from them as well, even now. Field missed an important opportunity, instead choosing to virtue signal and apologize for her skin color. Racism will not go away until we stop making a point of talking about it, and old white women apologizing for something they have no control over isn’t going to help.
