Nikki Haley, the former U.N. Ambassador has announced she is throwing her hat into the ring for president in 2024, and will formally announce her candidacy in Charleston, South Carolina on February 15th. It had been long rumored and expected that Haley would enter the race and she becomes the second to officially declare following former President Donald Trump.
Haley is reportedly sending her backers invitations for a “special announcement” that will take place at The Shed Downtown at the Charleston Visitor Center in downtown Charleston where she will officially launch her candidacy.
The report about Haley’s presidential announcement came less than two weeks after she told Fox News’s Bret Baier she believes she could be the leader to push America into a “new direction.”

Haley could provide competition for Donald Trump and Ron Desantis once he announces his candidacy as expected, with a fresh face and a renewed energy level. There are some that are done with President Trump’s often reckless rhetoric, and how well Desantis handles the attacks from Trump, which have already started could decide whether voters are swayed towards an alternative in the conservative female.
“When you’re looking at a run for president, you look at two things: You first look at, does the current situation push for new leadership? The second question is, ‘Am I that person that could be that new leader?’” Haley said.
Interestingly, Haley had previously hinted at not running if President Trump chose to run again. It’s unknown as to why she changed her mind, but a spot on Trump’s ticket as Vice President could be a reality if as expected, the former president wins the nomination.
“I would not run if President Trump ran, and I would talk to him about it,” Haley said in 2021. “That’s something we’ll have a conversation about at some point, if that decision is something that has to be made.”
It appears a conversation between Haley and Trump did occur before news of Haley’s presidential candidacy broke. Over a weekend trip on the campaign trail, which included a stop in Haley’s home state of South Carolina, Trump said Haley called him and spoke about her upcoming candidacy, which he encouraged.”
“I talked to her for a little while. I said, ‘Look, you know, go by your heart if you want to run,’” Trump said. “She called me and said she’d like to consider it, and I said you should do it.”
While it might seem weak that Haley felt the need to seek Trump’s approval, perhaps she plans to keep the relationship warm and fuzzy for the vice presidency. Haley would be a tremendous upgrade from the traitorous and weak Mike Pence and would actually give the country a real female vice president instead of the cackling shrew we have now. Either way, the GOP needs the best version of Trump, Desantis, or Haley to take on the lying and deceptive democrats in 2024. Iron sharpens iron, and a battle royale will only make the last candidate standing stronger for the bigger fight ahead.
