Super Bowl Halftime Show Features Mostly Yawns and Bathroom Breaks As Woke Songstress Rihanna Underwhelms

Before woke songstress Rihanna was announced as the Super Bowl halftime performer, most of the country already knew that the halftime show wasn’t intended for them. For some years the Super Bowl has featured black artists and music designed to appeal only to a certain segment of people, and this year was no different. However, at least most years the show was actually entertaining, as you never knew who would make a guest appearance or what the featured artist would do. I’m no Lady Gaga fan, but it was cool at Super Bowl LI when Gaga jumped off the roof at NRG Stadium in Houston. Unfortunately, last night in Glendale, Arizona Rihanna brought mostly backup dancers, bathroom breaks and yawns as her performance stood in stark contrast with the excitement and action of the first half of football. The choice was an odd one to begin with, as she brings a long list of far-left political posturing with her to an event that is meant to bring everyone together. Check this out.

Grammy award-winning singer Rihanna is the featured performer of the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show — and is bringing years of woke, partisan baggage to the supposedly apolitical event.

In 2018, the “Disturbia” singer accused the United States Border Patrol of “terrorism” over their use of tear gas to stop migrants from illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

That following year, Rihanna went after Republican lawmakers in the state of Alabama over them having signed abortion legislation, describing them as shameful “idiots” who were curtailing women’s rights.

“Take a look. These are the idiots making decisions for WOMEN in America,” the pop star wrote in a Twitter post, accompanied by an image of Republican lawmakers who voted in favor of the legislation. “Governor Kay Ivey… SHAME ON YOU!!!!”

It isn’t unusual for celebrities and music industry stars to take hard left stances on social issues. However, that doesn’t mean they are correct. More likely it means they know the demographic that buys their records and goes to their movies, so they are saying what they think their fans want to hear. Why say anything at all? Why not just focus on your “art” and leave the social issues alone? In Rihanna’s case, she was suffering from a very early case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. As we have come to learn, that is a very contagious, debilitating disease.

That same year, the “Umbrella” songstress suggested that then-President Donald Trump is the “most mentally ill human being in America right now,” adding that the president’s response to a mass shooting in El Paso was “racist.”

Rihanna has also said that she declined an opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl in order to show solidarity with former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who is best known for protesting the national anthem and glorifying brutal Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

“I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout,” Rihanna said to Vogue magazine at the time.

Perhaps Rihanna declined the Super Bowl in solidarity with communist sympathizer Kaepernick, or perhaps it is because Super Bowl performers don’t get paid to perform. In fact, they incur all of the expense themselves. How the league pulls this off is amazing, but many big stars have turned down the opportunity for that very reason. The fact that she decided to this year either makes her a hypocrite, or perhaps desperate for the exposure to revive a career that has been in neutral for the last five years.

When Rihanna is not attacking President Trump and other conservatives, she is engaging in other strange behaviors.

Last year, the pop star backed her belief that climate change is a social justice issue by pledging $15 million to the movement through her Clara Lionel Foundation. Rihanna has also participated in so-called gender bending by creating an ad in which men apply lipstick for her cosmetics brand Fenty Beauty.

Rihanna is all over the map with her virtue signaling and social justice efforts. Unfortunately, her on field performance wasn’t nearly as interesting as anything she has done off the field the last several years, and both are about as relevant. Let’s hope the NFL gives the other half of America a reason to stay on the couch during next year’s halftime show.
