As a longtime metalhead, I find it appalling that so many of the famous, legendary bands and singers from my youth have sold out a style of music that was all about being a rebel, having your own voice, not following the herd, and giving the government the middle finger, and become the exact opposite of everything the music stands for. What’s even more ironic is that the most outspoken of the leftist metal community is Dee Snider of Twisted Sister.
You know, the group that stood against government censorship in the 1980s when Democrats — like former Vice President Al Gore’s wife, Tipper, — who made war on rap and metal? Yeah, they’ve completely flip-flopped and are now soldiers for the very group of people who sought to destroy their music careers all those years ago. Nothing could be more pathetic than seeing a free speech icon like Dee Snyder bow the knee as a full on totalitarian boot licker.
As you probably can tell, folks, this one’s personal for me.
According to Breitbart News, Snyder has given gun control advocates the right to use the band’s music in order to push for a ban on “assault weapons.” The song in question? “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” which was written about all of the individuals, alongside the government, who were trying to censor their music. The song was written as an anthem designed to be a defense of rights, and now Dee Snyder is allowing it to be used to strip away rights.

Snyder also gave the okay to a user on Twitter to uses the popular song in conjunction with a gun control push from Moms Demand Action:

The tweets from Snyder, the most absolutely un-metal singer in the genre’s history thanks to his left-wing turn, came just a day after a female who identified as a male shot up a Christian school in Nashville, leaving three children and three adults dead.
“In other tweets, Snider noted that he keeps a .45 caliber pistol by his bedside and his wife keeps a 9mm pistol in hers,” Breitbart reported, proving once again that Snyder is an absolute hypocrite. Does anyone actually care what this man has to say? I don’t.
Oh, but the hypocrisy gets even better. Apparently, Snyder also prefers to use a shotgun as his weapon of choice at night. Shotguns are also part of police tactical teams. Funny how he’s totally cool with all of that, huh? What a total loser.
The Second Amendment was created as a means of providing Americans with the weapons needed to defend their liberty and freedom from tyranny. Some leftists will scoff and say that the average gun owner stands no chance defending themselves against the government’s army, but there are two problems with that line of thinking.
First, what makes a liberal think the military would actually attack the people they swore an oath to protect? Secondly, look at how well very small, poorly armed insurgents in the Middle East managed to protect themselves and defend against troops in an urban environment.
