Former President Donald Trump is all set to be arraigned in a courthouse located in Manhattan next Tuesday afternoon after it was announced Thursday night that he was indicted, according to court officials on Friday. This is yet another example of the justice system in our country being weaponized against the political enemies of President Joe Biden. After all, they are the ones who stand to gain the most from this whole mess.
What the left wants is to see Trump get disqualified from being able to run for president in 2024, removing the greatest threat to Biden’s reelection. Or, I should say, what they perceive to be the greatest threat to his reelection. If we’re being honest, there are more than a few folks who could step into the gap if this scenario were to play out who could give the president a run for his money.
Joe Tacopina, Trump’s lawyer, stated that he does not expect that his client will be put in handcuffs when he turns himself in, and revealed the former president “will not take a plea deal on this case. It’s not gonna happen.”
“There’s no crime,” he went on to say, according to the Daily Wire. “I don’t know if it’s gonna make it to trial because we have substantial legal challenges.”
The former president if fully expected to voluntarily surrender to local authorities in Manhattan at which point he will be fingerprinted and photographed. After that, Trump will make his first appearance in court.
“The judge overseeing the case against signed off on an order late on Thursday allowing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to disclose the indictment to the public,” the report said.
The authorization was then given to disclose the decision “upon a finding that this disclosure to the public that the grand jury has returned a true bill in the above captioned case and that said indictment has been filed with the Court would be in the public interest and an appropriate exercise of this Court’s discretion,” CNN said.
Bragg then put out a statement later that confirmed the indictment and indicated that there were plans in the works for the former president to surrender.
“This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal,” a spokesperson working for Bragg stated. “Guidance will be provided when the arraignment date in selected.”
In light of these upcoming events, the New York City Police Department has issued an order that every member of the department, which includes a total of 36,000 officers and 19,000 civilian employees, to report to work in full uniform as a show of force designed to dissuade any individuals from participating in civil unrest.
“The NYPD continues to monitor all activity and there are no credible threats to the city at this time,” Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell went on to say to the press. “The N.Y.P.D. always remains prepared to respond to events happening on the ground and keep New Yorkers safe.”
