Former President Donald Trump might have some rain splash down on his parade Tuesday, as there is a growing anticipation of a judge in New York slapping him with a gag order that would make it night unto impossible for him to deliver a speech after his arraignment on Tuesday. Because the radical left will go to any lengths necessary to prevent Trump from being able to try and use the indictment and arraignment as a means of boosting his 2024 presidential campaign. Which is exactly what he’s planning to do. It’s smart. Trump knows what he is doing and how to motivate his base.
“After a grand jury indicted Trump last week, the former president took aim at Manhattan District Attorney (DA) Alvin Bragg as well as the judge presiding over the case, stoking speculation about the potential for an order restricting what Trump can say outside the courtroom,” the Daily Wire reported.
“Criminal defense attorney Duncan Levin, who previously served as a staffer in the Manhattan DA’s office and as a federal prosecutor, told Insider that it is “extremely likely” there will be a gag order,” the report continued.
And for those who might feel this is just a bluff by progressives, the legal team representing and supporting Trump, who is a few months into his 2024 bid for the White House, are now looking to hire a First Amendment attorney in order to “combat” efforts to silence him, according to a source who spoke with the Daily Mail.
If the former president violates the gag order — if one materializes — by speaking about the case, he could face charges of criminal contempt. Under New York law, a violation like that could result in a fine of up to $1,000 and a month in jail. Possibly both.
“Mike Davis, founder of the Article III Project, said gag orders ‘generally’ protect the Sixth Amendment right of defendants to fair trials, but that does not preclude them from having First Amendment rights,” the Daily Wire reported.
“Ordering any defendant not to speak about his charges would almost certainly violate the First Amendment,” he went on to say in a post published on Twitter. “Telling a presidential candidate he cannot respond to allegations —including media leaks — in a political prosecution is un-American.”
“Harmeet Dhillon, whose Dhillon Law Group has represented Trump and some of his allies in various cases, said during a Fox News appearance late Sunday the court would have to consider whether limits on speech will affect the defendant’s right to a fair trial. Noting there have been selective leaks about the indictment, Dhillon added that a court typically would issue such an order on both sides,” said the Daily Wire.
Thank you @SteveHiltonx for having me on @NextRevFNC! A gag order preventing a presidential candidate and former President Trump from discussing the case is highly disfavored under the First Amendment. Will the media itself object to this unprecedented act in a political case? pic.twitter.com/NEewIblNrs

The former president’s reelection campaign announced over the weekend that he would be delivering a public speech from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Tuesday evening. As of right now, it’s unclear what he’s going to say, but he’s been very, very outspoken about the case against him, which revolves around an alleged hush money payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels.
