Professional athletes, coastal elites, Hollywood actors, Washington politicians; what do all of these people have in common? They love nothing more than to sit in their ivory towers, with their armed security, and tell the unwashed masses how to live.
You don’t need guns, you don’t need gas stoves, you don’t need gasoline-powered cars. Shut up, peasant, and live as you are told!
Gregg Popovich, the currently failing coach of the San Antonio Spurs had some scurrilous, incorrect remarks about the Second Amendment recently, and Ted Cruz had to take him to task and drop some truth bombs on the Spurs coach. Maybe Gregg should focus on NOT sucking at his job and leave the social commentary alone. Popovich popped off and got stuffed. Check this out.
Ted Cruz destroyed Greg Popovich's insane anti-gun and anti-Secondment Amendment rant.
Popovich has armed police at every game he coaches but wants to take guns away from the common American. Not going to happen!
God made man. Sam Colt made them equal! https://t.co/UnX78QDTLK

The Spurs coach generated a ton of attention when he decided it was his job as a basketball coach to lecture America about gun laws and the Bill of Rights. Interesting choice for a coach who won just 22 games this season.
“But they’re going to cloak all this stuff [in] the myth of the Second Amendment, the freedom. You know, it’s just a myth. It’s a joke. It’s just a game they play. I mean, that’s freedom. Is it freedom for kids to go to school and try to socialize and try to learn and be scared to death that they might die that day,” Popovich recently said while ripping gun ownership and specifically Cruz’s plan for more school security and mental health services, according to Fox News.
Actually, Gregg, it is our Constitution. The actual law of the land. As for myths, a playoff berth is a myth for Popovich this season, but that hasn’t stopped him from sounding stupid.
One school shooting is too many, but the actual odds of that happening to any individual child starts with three zeros before you hit an actual number. It is statistically rare.
Being of a certain age, I also remember guns, in trucks, and in the school parking lot. Many of us grew up in an age where there was minimal security, maximum guns, and zero school shootings. Perhaps Cruz is onto something by wanting more mental health services as opposed to fewer guns. Of course, you can’t talk sense to a leftist.
Cruz fired back:
“We’ve seen for a long time that there are a lot of institutions in sports that don’t really like their fans very much, don’t really like their customers, don’t respect their customers, that look down on them. Popovich is someone who has been a partisan for a long time. He’s a liberal Democrat. But you know, I do wish, you see this at the NBA, you see at the NFL, these incredibly rich athletes who hypocritically disdain their fans and customers and who lecture them almost inevitably from a point of ignorance. So, Gregg Popovich is telling you that ‘It’s a myth that the Second Amendment protects your rights. It’s a myth that the Second Amendment protects your freedoms.’ I mean, that’s a fairly astonishing proposition.”
Adding some sting to the scathing remarks, Cruz also pointed out how much armed security NBA games have, despite the fact Popovich wants to take away our guns! Rules for thee, not for me!“You know what, there are a lot of NBA games. Police officers, armed police officers with weapons strapped in their holsters. You know, Popovich is surrounded by armed security most of the time. And this is true with so many Hollywood liberals that have armed bodyguards protecting them, and they say, ‘You little people, you don’t have a right to defend your family. You don’t have a right to defend your children. But me, I’m going to be surrounded [in] perfect safety and take away your rights to defend yourself.’ … Unfortunately, that kind of condescension is all too common.”
Boom! Cruz launched a three-pointer from deep and hit nothing but net. Maybe Popovich should consult with Cruz on lineup advice and a game plan.
The game plan in America should be to add more security to schools, offer more mental health services, and leave our guns alone. No gun ever killed anyone without a trigger being pulled, and in spite of what Alec Baldwin claims, triggers don’t pull themselves. Big-mouth libs like Popovich need to remember what our country is founded on, and if he doesn’t like it, maybe coach in Canada?
