The current director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, has officially stepped down from her position as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to wane, which has been cited as the main reason for her departure from the post. It’s been in decline for quite some time, but by the way a very vocal, though small, group of radical left-wingers have been behaving, you’d never guess that was the case.
The last day for Walensky, according to Breitbart News, is set for June 30, according to other officials with the CDC. The Associated Press reported that Walensky sent a resignation letter directly to President Joe Biden before going on later to inform her own staff about the decision during a special meeting.
“President-elect Biden appointed her as CDC director in December 2020, just before the first coronavirus vaccines were rolled out in the U.S. In her letter to the president, she reportedly expressed ‘mixed feelings’ about the decision and gave no specific reason for walking away, other than offering that the nation is at a moment of transition as emergency declarations come to an end around the world,” the report said.
“I have never been prouder of anything I have done in my professional career,” she stated in the letter.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said Friday coronavirus no longer qualifies as a global emergency, and the U.S. public health emergency declaration will expire next week, as Breitbart News reported. The spread of coronavirus “is no longer an unusual or unexpected event” and “the world has made significant and impressive global progress since the declaration of the PHEIC in January 2020,” allowing for a change in approach to the disease, the W.H.O. declared.
Deaths in the U.S. are at their lowest point since the earliest days of the coronavirus outbreak in early 2020, the AP report sets out.
At the end of the day, this is good news. Many folks, even in positions of power that benefited greatly from the coronavirus pandemic, have come to accept that this is all just a normal part of life now. Most people have had it multiple times and it seems we’re all adapting to it in some way, shape, or form.
The biggest take away from all of this is the insatiable appetite the left has for power and authority. Progressivism is built on the idea that mankind, if it is led by the right people and enforces the right laws, can perfect the human species, which those of us living in reality know is not at all true.
When the left sees individuals standing up for liberty and fighting against their efforts they become extremely angry. Liberals are convinced their way is the one that will produce an actual utopian society and we are standing in the way of the “progress” toward that outcome. Hence, the intense hatred they have for us fighting back against their tyranny.
Let us not forget this reality as we move forward away from this period in history.
