There are a lot of things Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is good at, two of them being protecting children from the sick and twisted indoctrination of sexual perversion by the radical left, and finding new and creative ways to make said individuals blow steam out of their ears. The latest batch of bills that DeSantis has now signed into law are definitely going to accomplish both of those missions.
According to the Daily Wire, three bills are now law, all of which place more restrictions on various diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in institutions of higher education located in the state of Florida. It’s important to note that the state of Florida was recently ranked as the top state in the entire country for education.
“The three bills that DeSantis signed were Senate Bill (SB) 266, which prohibits institutions from spending federal or state dollars on discriminatory “diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)” initiatives; House Bill (HB) 931, which prohibits Florida’s public institutions from requiring students, faculty, or staff to take political loyalty tests; and SB 240, which expands workforce education initiatives and increases access to career and technical education (CTE) programs, according to the governor’s office,” the report said.
“Florida has ranked number one in higher education for seven years in a row, and by signing this legislation we are ensuring that Florida’s institutions encourage diversity of thought, civil discourse, and the pursuit of truth for generations to come,” DeSantis revealed in a statement. “Florida is taking a stand for empowering students, parents, and educators to focus on creating opportunities for our younger generations. I am happy to have worked with the legislature to get this important legislation signed, sealed, and delivered.”
SB 266 is the legislation that earned the most media attention due to the fact it goes hard after woke ideologies that have been ingrained deeply in higher education cutting off funding that is designated for “initiatives that promote dangerous political and social activism, such as DEI initiatives.”
“This bill prohibits programs, majors, minors, curriculum, and general education core courses that violate Florida law regarding prohibited discrimination or that are based on theories that systemic racism, sexism, oppression, and privilege are inherent in the institutions of the United States and were created to maintain social, political, and economic inequities,” the governor’s office went on to say. “Additionally, this bill will require that our university presidents renew their ownership of and accountability for hiring, promoting, and when necessary, disciplining faculty.”
HB931 bans schools from making “political statements and ideological attestations by faculty and students in hiring, promoting, and admissions” a requirement.
Today, Florida abolished the DEI bureaucracy and restored colorblind equality in all of its public universities.

Progressives took over the education system, both at the local level and college level, many years ago, transforming them from institutions designed to help ensure young people were well equipped to be independent thinkers who would be productive members of society, into making them robots locked into groupthink that believe the government has the solutions to all our problems.
DeSantis, and many other conservatives like him, are working hard to undo all of that and restore these institutions to what they once were. Let’s hope the movement spreads.
