Gavin Newsom raised eyebrows on Memorial Day by eschewing commemorating our fallen hero servicemen on Twitter in favor of a tone deaf political cartoon.
The cartoon, which featured a child trying to reach books on a high shelf while guns are mounted on the wall pointed at him, was a weird, inappropriate attempt to make a statement about guns and conservatives wanting sexually explicit reading material restricted for children.
Apparently, liberals are all in favor of kids reading about sexual, adult content, or so it would seem from Greasy Gavin’s Tweet.
Naturally, and rightfully so, conservative Twitter had a field day.
After hours without commenting on the holiday honoring fallen service members, Newsom surprised social media users by tweeting a cartoon without a caption making a point on gun control and book bans. The image depicted a child trying to reach a book on a high shelf with several guns hanging lower on the wall.
The timing of this image, along with the obvious political implications, drew intense backlash from Twitter users attacking the governor for ignoring the holiday to make a partisan point.
The left never lets an opportunity pass to virtue signal. Whether it be a so-called mass shooting, a justified shooting by police, or some perceived injustice against the LGBTQ coalition, liberals are often content to stoke division before the bodies are even in the ground.
I couldn’t believe how many people were tricked by an obvious AOC parody account, but then I thought this was from a Gavin Newsom parody account. https://t.co/ljVFPdHyGt

In this case, Newsom may have went too far. Memorial Day is intended to honor our fallen servicemen, and most people have been touched by those losses in some form or fashion. Newsom instead tried to make a political statement.
Social media went wild.
“A weird thing to post on Memorial Day. I wonder if Gavin Newsom asks his armed law enforcement, which he uses for security, where they store their guns and place their bookshelves,” Seattle radio host Jason Rantz remarked.
Conservative writer Chad Felix Greene wrote, “I don’t think you quite get what you want to share here, Gavin.”
“I couldn’t believe how many people were tricked by an obvious AOC parody account, but then I thought this was from a Gavin Newsom parody account,” The Daily Wire’s Frank Fleming joked.
Five Times August frontman Brad Skistimas tweeted, “What the illustration isn’t showing you is that those books are filled with porn and propaganda designed to confuse young minds. Gavin Newsom wants your kids reading this.”

It is likely that like Joe Biden, Newsom probably doesn’t do his own social media. He might want to consider taking over himself if that’s the case. While Biden is probably scared of technology, at least Newsom is young enough to learn Twitter and how not to look like a fool on the platform.
“California has the most mass shootings in the United States. California has the strictest gun laws in the United States. Can Gavin Newsom please explain this?” conservative influencer Paul Szypula commented.
Newsom simply made it too easy to lambaste this Tweet. Users correctly point out that conservatives just want the kiddos out of the gender ideology and pornography, and that California has the strictest gun laws, and most shootings. Sounds like gun laws aren’t the answer!
After the backlash began, Newsom threw a Hail Mary to attempt to save the day. It fell incomplete.
Newsom later retweeted a statement from the Office of the Governor of California account honoring Memorial Day.
“On Memorial Day, we remember and honor the courageous men and women who laid down their lives to protect our cherished freedoms and way of life. In memory of those we have lost, flags will be flown at half-staff on all state buildings and grounds,” the tweet read.
Too little, too late for Greasy Gavin Newsom. His zeal to make a political point was stronger than his desire to honor our nations fallen, and if a time ever comes where Newsom wants to sit in the White House, we must remember this moment.
