Well, it seems that Sen. Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, has found himself on a list of Russia’s most wanted after a video came out that shows him celebrating the United States spending some serious cash on the killing of Russians in Ukraine. Russia is not the kind of country you want to be hot on your tail. Just ask Brittney Griner.
According to the Daily Wire, “After top Russian investigator Alexander Bastrykin ordered criminal proceedings, the Russian Interior Ministry added Graham to its wanted list, according to Russian state news agency TASS.At issue is a video, released by Ukraine’s presidential office, showing Graham meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy last week. It was edited to show Graham saying, “the Russians are dying,” and then describing how U.S. military aid to Ukraine is “the best money we’ve ever spent,” according to the Associated Press.”
“It’s hard to imagine a greater shame for the country than having such senators,” stated Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in an interview with Newsweek.
A longer version of the video, which was published by Reuters, shows the South Carolina Republican making the comments in a different order, reversed from the originally released clip, which demonstrates they were not as directly connected as the earlier video suggested.
“After making the remarks lionizing the United States’ investment in helping Ukraine fend off the Russian invasion, Graham talked about how Ukrainians remind him of ‘our better selves in America’ fighting for freedom. Zelensky pointed out that Americans are now free and Ukrainians will also be free, to which Graham then noted that ‘the Russians are dying,'” the Daily Wire said.
However, despite the confusion stirred up by both clips, Graham himself, was seemingly not phased by his wanted status, actually going on to celebrate it. Graham has been very consistent in his criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin, so his defiance isn’t surprising.
“I will wear the arrest warrant issued by Putin’s corrupt and immoral government as a Badge of Honor,” the senator went on to say in a statement issued on Monday. “To know that my commitment to Ukraine has drawn the ire of Putin’s regime brings me immense joy. I will continue to stand with and for Ukraine’s freedom until every Russian soldier is expelled from Ukrainian territory.”
“Graham also made an ‘offer’ to Putin, alluding to how the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin for alleged war crimes during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,” the report said.
“I will submit to jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court if you do,” Graham challenged Putin. “Come and make your best case. See you in The Hague!”
Graham has never been shy about his stance in the skirmish going on in Europe, but this all seems a little excessive. At least he is not cowering in fear. That would really damage our national reputation. President Biden has already done enough of that already. No need to pile it on, right?
It’s embarrassing having a leader that doesn’t even remember that his own son died of brain cancer, stating he died during his military service in Iraq.
