Has anyone checked on California lately? How is the “Golden Coast” faring?
Well, businesses are fleeing, and Hollywood stars are “peacing-out” on a regular basis, but hey, at least it isn’t on fire yet.
The state has much of its problems to blame on Gavin Newsom. The smarmy Newsom has taken a state that actually had a budget surplus before he became governor and turned it into a massive deficit. Crime is out of control, homelessness is the norm, open-air drug use is rampant, and San Francisco is covered in people-poop. Great job, Gavin!
So, what does Newsom do for his next trick? Maybe try to restrict gun rights and set fire to our constitution? Yep, sounds pretty on-brand. Check this out:
“Our ability to make a more perfect union is literally written into the Constitution,” Newsom said Thursday. “So today, I’m proposing the 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution to do just that. The 28th Amendment will enshrine in the Constitution commonsense gun safety measures that Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and gun owners overwhelmingly support — while leaving the Second Amendment unchanged and respecting America’s gun-owning tradition.”
A more perfect union, but in who’s opinion? Why should we trust someone like Gavin Newsom to decide what a better union consists of? Newsom can’t even run his own state.
SHOCKING AND DISGUSTING:
California Governor Gavin Newsom calls for a convention of states to propose a constitutional amendment to restrict gun rights. This amendment would absolutely decimate the 2nd amendment.
It would raise the minimum age from 18 to 21, mandate… pic.twitter.com/JivaVWwdtJ

Ironically, Newsom is peddling a gun restriction amendment, considering California has some of the strictest gun laws, yet the state is overrun with gun violence. Seems to be a bit of a disconnect.
Of course, that’s usually the case. Cities like Chicago and New York have severe gun laws, yet off-the-charts gun violence. Maybe it’s because criminals don’t care about gun laws, and a disarmed populace is easy pickings.
The Democratic governor’s proposed 28th Amendment would not abolish the Second Amendment, which establishes a right to bear firearms for personal self-defense and other lawful purposes. However, it would raise the federal minimum age to purchase a firearm from 18 to 21; mandate universal background checks to purchase firearms; institute a waiting period for all gun purchases; and ban “assault weapons.”
Newsom’s proposed amendment would also affirm that Congress, states and local governments can enact additional gun control measures.
The last part is key. If individual states are allowed under the constitution to restrict gun laws, you can bet that every blue state in the nation will become the wild west. If citizens can’t carry a weapon to defend themselves, then armed criminals are just shooting metaphorical fish in a barrel.
The NRA is pushing back:
“Newsom’s latest publicly stunt once again shows that his unhinged contempt for the right to self-defense has no bounds,” the National Rifle Association said in a statement. “California is a beacon for violence because of Newsom’s embrace of policies that champion the criminal and penalize the law-abiding. That is why the majority of Americans rightfully reject his California-style gun control.”
While Newsom is unlikely to get any momentum with his proposed amendment, what is important is he tried. It is important because this shyster has designs on the White House, and if he could ever fool enough people to get in, you can rest assured that crime will rise higher nationwide, and gun owners will no longer have rights.
