Horror master Stephen King tried to get smarmy with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican, concerning his 2021 trip to Cancun, Mexico, but instead of cinching a big victory over the conservative constitutional expert, he got obliterated by what I affectionately call a “Cruz missile” concerning the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border. Maybe he’ll think twice before flapping his digital gums at someone like Cruz who, unlike leftists, actually knows what the crap he’s talking about.
The online encounter, which, of course, took place on Twitter — where else would this kind of kerfuffle go down? — lasted for just a few days, which is short by online terms, all started with a video posted by the Texas Republican from a recent appearance he made on Fox News.
“I spend a lot of time at the southern border,” the Texas senator stated in the caption for the clip. “I spend a lot of time with our border patrol agents. It’s never been remotely this bad. This is an invasion & our families are less safe because Joe Biden is president.”

In the video, Cruz chats about how the Border Patrol encountered a total of 125 people who were part of the Terror Watch List thus far in the fiscal year for 2023. Keep in mind, the fiscal year has not ended yet. This is an increase from 98 encounters last year, 15 in 2021, and only 3 that took place in 2020. Notice the longer Biden has been in office, the higher this number has gone? I’m not sure that’s a coincidence.
And it’s not an observation lost on Sen. Ted Cruz either, who pointed out that ever since Biden took over the Oval Office, over six million illegal immigrants have crossed the border, which is “the worst in history.”
“King weighed in then, tweeting back a reference to Cruz’s trip — a trip that coincided with a deadly freeze and power failure in his home state. ‘You’ve also spent a lot of time in Cancun. That’s pretty south, right?’ the author asked,” the Daily Wire reported.
“Multi-millionaire Leftist @StephenKing sits in his mansion in Maine and laughs at the kids being abused & the women being sexually assaulted on our Southern border,” Cruz said in his response to King. “He doesn’t give a damn about their suffering—or about the 853 migrants who died last year or the 100k Americans who died of drug overdoses. Nope. What does he want to talk about? Cancun.”

King tried to blast Cruz a second time by going back to the Cancun topic, saying, “You’re worth three mil yourself, Teddy. Guess you can go to Cancun pretty much whenever you want. How are your constituents doing?”
This guy just does not learn, ladies and gentlemen. Once again, King gets owned.
Cruz fired back by saying he was actually worth more than what King claimed, asking why the popular horror author had not addressed the point he made concerning the southern border crisis.
“Am worth more than that (as the son of a penniless immigrant), but I gladly took a 90% pay cut to fight every day for 30 million Texans,” Cruz posted on Twitter. “Why does @StephenKing ignore EVERY WORD I said about the people hurt by the #BidenBorderCrisis? Because rich Hollywood liberals simply don’t give a damn about the people their policies hurt.”

As much as I love the early work produced by King and truly believe he’s the best horror author ever, I despise his politics. I also despise his snarky rhetoric and his refusal to actually engage with facts instead of liberal narratives. If he was serious about discussing the issues facing the American people, he’d take time to actually learn what’s going on instead of parroting talking points.
