Former Fox News anchor and current podcast host Megyn Kelly and former President Donald Trump have a bit of a past. If you remember back during Trump’s first run for the White House back in 2015 and 2016’s election cycle, Trump said a few things that were considered to be uncouth and a bit of a feud brewed up between the two. However, it seems like those days are history and the hatchet has been buried.
According to the Daily Caller, the pair had a private meeting over the weekend at an event in West Palm Beach put on by Turning Point USA, which included more than a few big names in the conservative movement, including the former president.
“He and I got a one-on-one together for the first time in years and it was frankly great to see him,” Kelly stated, discussing details about the meeting she had with Trump. “You know, all that nonsense between us is under the bridge and he could not have been more magnanimous, you know. It’s just the thing about Trump is, he commands the room, he walks in and it’s not just because he’s a former president now because I knew him before that, he, there’s just something about him. It’s like an aura that sort of takes over the room, there’s only one person you can look at.”
Kelly then went on to say the former president “could not have been nicer or more generous and had some interesting thoughts about the debates, whether he’s going to attend.”
“I wouldn’t bet on it, I would not bet on him attending, at least that first Fox News debate. If I had to put money on it, you know, it’s Trump so he could change his mind but that was my feeling,” Kelly predicted. She then added Trump did not offer a commitment either way.
Personally, I think it would still be a good idea for the former president to attend the debate. There are quite a few Americans who are still on the fence about this third attempt he’s making for the White House. He may feel that he’s so far ahead of the competition right now that he really doesn’t need to waste his time with the debates, but that line of thinking could cost him big time later on.
Just because things are going well for him now doesn’t mean they will continue to do so as the election cycle continues. Anything can happen at any time.
Here’s more from DC about the feud that once existed between Kelly and Trump:
Trump and Kelly had a famous fallout in 2015 during the first presidential debate after Kelly said to Trump: “You’ve called women you don’t like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals.”
Trump responded immediately that he’s only referred to Rosie O’Donnell that way. Trump later continually criticized Kelly.
It’s definitely good to see that both Kelly and Trump have grown as individuals over the years and have found a way to move beyond where they were at back then. Things have become so bad at this point, thanks to the wickedness of the Democratic Party and the progressives who continue to push things toward disaster, that we really do not have time to fight each other.
