A man who served for almost 20 years as a Capitol Police Officer has been taken into police custody in connection with an investigation into possible child pornography. How sick and twisted is this? This dude took an oath to serve and protect his community, to take bad guys off the streets, all the while, he himself is the worst kind of monster imaginable, preying on children for sexual gratification. Disgusting.
According to TheBlaze, “At about 5 a.m. on Monday morning, Maryland State Police arrested 42-year-old Jared Lemon at his home in Owings, about 30 miles southeast of Washington, D.C. The arrest relates to allegations which surfaced last December, when the MSP began looking into a report of child pornography. Officers had received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that someone in the area had uploaded images suspected to be sexually exploitative material featuring a minor. Further investigation into the tip indicated that the suspect was a police officer.”
“At the time, members of MSP served a search warrant at Lemon’s home and seized several electronic devices. When officials with the USCP received word about the search conducted at Lemon’s residence, they immediately ‘revoked’ his police powers and placed him in an administrative role with no’public’ interaction, a USCP statement claimed,” the report continued.
Lemon first joined the Capitol Police in 2005 and served as part of the Uniformed Services Bureau. After being arrested earlier this week, he was officially suspended “pending the outcome of the criminal case,” the statement released by the USCP continued.
Investigators also said, “evidence of the possession of child pornography” was found on devices that were taken from Lemon’s home. He has now been charged with five counts of felony possession of child pornography. If he is convicted by a jury of his peers, he could potentially spend the rest of his natural life in prison, along with facing tens of thousands of dollars in fines.
Due to the fact he’s a danger to society, he should never be allowed out on the streets again. Children are some of our most vulnerable citizens and thus need to be protected by the proper enforcement of our laws. That means putting folks like Lemon in a concrete box with bars on the windows. A sick, deranged human being who preys on kids is not likely going to change their behavior or be rehabilitated. Any sexual crime involving children should also be punished by chemical castration.
“Lemon remains in custody at the Calvert County Detention Center. His bond has been denied. While MSP continues its investigation into the criminal case against Lemon, the USCP Office of Professional Responsibility has claimed that it will conduct an administrative investigation into the allegations after the criminal case concludes,” TheBlaze stated.
As of this writing, it is not clear if Lemon has already hired legal representation or if he has opted to be assigned a public defender. The case seems pretty air tight, the imagery having been found on his own devices, but it’s still critical to ensure that even scum like Lemon receive a fair trial as guaranteed under the Constitution. If his rights aren’t protected, none of ours will be.
