The federal prosecutor who was investigating President Joe Biden’s baby boy, Hunter Biden, has now come out and stated that he was never denied the authority to bring charges against him, which is a flat out rejection of the claims made by a recent whistleblower concerning the Department of Justice allegedly interfering with the probe.
According to The Daily Wire, a letter was sent out Monday penned by Delaware’s U.S. Attorney David Weiss who stated that he’s “not requested” special counsel status, which is a designation that would enable him to file charges outside of his district without needing to work with the local U.S. attorney, as allegations popped up that he was prevented from bringing up charges in both our nation’s capital and in California.
The report said:
Weiss, a Trump appointee, further stated that he had discussions with DOJ officials about a “potential” appointment and was “assured” that he would be granted this authority “if it proved necessary.” This “assurance,” the prosecutor added, was made before an October 7, 2022, meeting during which IRS supervisory special agent Gary Shapley, a whistleblower in this matter, claims Weiss announced that he had been denied special counsel status. A second IRS official also relayed to lawmakers a second-hand account of this meeting with matching claims.
Shapley, who says his entire team was abruptly pulled from the Hunter Biden inquiry after he approached Congress to make a disclosure, responded to the letter with a brief statement from his legal team.
As of this writing, the investigation into Hunter Biden, 53, which has been going on for years, has basically amounted to the first son receiving nothing more than a slap on the wrist, if you can even call it that. The troubled younger son of the president has made a plea deal for tax evasion charges and a gun violation which will ensure he spends exactly zero time behind bars and, if approved by a judge, may result in him not even having a felony on his permanent record.
Weiss addressed his letter to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who had sought information in response to claims that the DOJ was slow-walking the Hunter Biden investigation, potentially for political reasons. Weiss insisted that he has “never been denied the authority to bring charges in any jurisdiction.” The prosecutor also said he could not respond to questions about allegationsregarding a bribery scheme contained in an FBI FD-1023 form because they relate to “an ongoing investigation.”
Just a month ago, Weiss replied to another letter sent by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, saying that he had been given “ultimate authority” in the investigation into Hunter Biden. Along with that, he denied that the Justice Department took any action against officials with the IRS over protected disclosures made to Congress.
We are officially living in a society that has a two-tiered system of justice. If you are a wealthy liberal with good political connections, you can essentially do whatever you want. You have no reason to be concerned about legal consequences. Things will get swept under the rug, so long as you are ready to do favors in exchange for the political influence that protects you.
Meanwhile, when the average person breaks the same laws, you can guarantee they are going to be roommates with a dude named Bubba who thinks you have a real “purdy” mouth. This is one reason people are losing faith in the American system as a whole.
