A new report from TheBlaze has revealed that a registered sex offender in Rockford, Illinois, which is located roughly 90 miles northwest of Chicago, has been charged with the kidnapping and brutal slaying of a 10-year-old girl who was outside playing with her little sister when she was taken on Saturday afternoon. This guy absolutely deserves the death penalty and nothing anyone says will ever change my mind.
Police in Rockford spoke with WFLD-TV and said the young victim and her 6-year-old sister were outside playing when Antonio Monroe, 44, snatched her. The younger sister might have also become a victim had she not gotten away and told their mother.
“The victim was found unresponsive less than an hour after the mother called police, WFLD added. A police K-9 tracked down Monroe a few blocks from the victim’s body, the station reported, adding that police said the suspect was taken into custody after a brief struggle. WREX-TV said Monroe, a Blue Island resident, is a registered sex offender stemming from a 2010 incident in Peoria. WREX added that Monroe was hospitalized and would be processed through the Winnebago County Jail when released,” TheBlaze said.
Mayor of Rockford, Tom McNamara, put out a statement saying,“I’m [devastated] by this horrific crime and the long-lasting impact it will undoubtedly have on this innocent child’s family and loved ones. Some crimes, especially those involving children, affect the entire community and make us question everything that we think we know to be true. In this moment, we have to acknowledge that our community needs time to process, grieve and heal. As a leader, I also need to understand if there are gaps in the system that need to be closed or more protections put in place to ensure that violent criminals are not free to roam and prey on children in our community. We will evaluate those questions in the coming weeks and months. For now, my heart is with the family and the entire community as we mourn the loss of one of our children.”
The local media outlet then revealed that a GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover expenses for the victim’s family. Of course, as nice and sweet as that is, it will not bring back the little girl who was ripped away from her family by this monster. The only real justice is putting this guy down for good. Society needs to be protected from inhuman beasts like Monroe.
Justice is supposed to be restorative in nature. However, one cannot revive a dead person, so the only restorative justice available is putting a murderer to death. Even the Bible prescribes this punishment for murder. I think if God says that’s a just punishment, we have no right to argue with him, you know, seeing as He’s all-knowing, all-powerful, and completely just through and through.
Again, this measure would also protect other children from becoming victims of the vile beast. That alone is justification enough for capital punishment to be unleashed. Let’s hope a jury feels the same way.
