All of the God-given rights included in the Constitution are sacred and worthy of defending with every fiber of our being. We do that through the application of the First Amendment, which guarantees we have the right to speak our minds and criticize our government, which includes airing grievances through protesting. The other way we protect the Constitution is through the Second Amendment, which is the right to bear arms. We are granted by God the right to protect life, liberty, and property from those who want to take them from us.
This includes the government, who has made it clear in recent years they will not stop until they erase the Second Amendment entirely and pry guns out of the hands of law-abiding American citizens, creating easy targets for criminals and removing any resistance to the tyranny they would like to use “for the greater good.”
Lots of leftists say that’s not their intention at all. All they want is to make it more difficult for dangerous, deranged criminals to get their hands on assault rifles used for maximum death and destruction. That’s a lie. We all know it’s a lie.
And the latest action taken by the Democratic governor of New Mexico concerning the concealed carrying of firearms proves it. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham put out an executive order that calls gun violence a public health emergency and has suspended all open and concealed carry of guns in the city of Albuquerque for a 30-day period. This, folks, is what we call a “test run” to see how people respond to having their guns forcefully taken away from them. Can they get away with something like this on a larger scale? The answer will depend, of course, on the state’s residence.
However, according to Just the News, New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez, who is also a Democrat, said on Tuesday he will not be defending the governor’s play in multiple lawsuits that have now been brought against her over the gun ban.
“I do not believe that the Emergency Order will have any meaningful impact on public safety,” Torrez’s letter states. “I do not believe it passes constitutional muster.
Grisham issued the executive order a week ago.
“The tragic deaths of 5-year-old Galilea Samaniego in a recent drive-by shooting and 11-year-old Froylan Villegas in a road rage incident should serve as a wakeup call to everyone,” Torrez went on to say in the letter.
“I encourage you to engage in a more thoughtful and deliberative process with members of the New Mexico Legislature rather than taking unilateral action that infringes on the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens while having little if any discernible impact on the underlying dynamics driving gun violence in our community,” the letter added.
The Second Amendment is not a right granted to us by the government. It comes from God in the Bible. The passage is Exodus 22. We have the right to defend ourselves using the weapons of the day. Period. Since God is the only one with the authority to revoke rights, only He can take it away. Not the government.
Our Constitution was written to protect this specific right so we could defend the others it contains. Let’s hope people stand boldly for their rights and use the First Amendment to help protect the Second, and the Second to protect the rest.
