A body camera worn by a police officer captured the moment a heroic civilian risked his life over the weekend to rescue a law enforcement official who was in a shootout with a bad guy on a highway in Houston, Texas. Man, this is what we need more of in this country, wouldn’t you agree? This is a person who was willing and ready to lay down his life for a stranger he didn’t even know, simply because it was the right thing to do. Let’s hope the people of America see this story and become inspired.
“Officers spotted a vehicle on the Southwest Freeway that was allegedly stolen in a carjacking incident, according to Houston Police Department (HPD). The suspect allegedly attempted to flee, causing officers to pursue the vehicle. A car chase began on the highway and ended once the suspect allegedly crashed into other vehicles, police said,” the Daily Caller said.
“The suspect got out of the vehicle and allegedly shot one of the officers, according to police. He allegedly attempted to carjack two more vehicles at the scene,” the report continued. “The suspect allegedly shot the 20-year-old police officer in the leg, according to HPD Chief Troy Finner. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. The suspect was also shot and died at the hospital, per police.”
The officer was shot following a brief vehicle pursuit at 59 and Chimney Rock. The suspect has also been shot and is an unknown condition. More information will follow.

Finner went on to give credit to an individual with a total heart of courage and fortitude with coming to the rescue of the injured officer and pulling him to safety while speaking at the press conference.
“I just kinda ran over there, and I grabbed that guy with the other police officer. Me and him, together, we grabbed him by his vest so he wouldn’t get shot again,” Lally said to the outlet. He then stated he felt he was just in the right place at the right time.
As if that wasn’t enough, he actually stayed with the officer until paramedics arrived. In our day and age it can be really easy to think no one cares about anyone else. We live in the time of the selfie and internet influencers, right? Being self-absorbed has become something of an art form these days.
Thankfully, good old fashioned masculinity, which so many feminists today label as “toxic,” came to save the day. I’m sure the officers loved ones are very thankful such a man exists, otherwise he would be dead and they deprived of a person they care about.
In the video, you can hear Lally attempting to provide comfort to the injured officer, saying, “It’s just your leg. It’s just your leg. You hear me? Just squeeze my hand as tight as you have to. Do you know what I’m saying? Don’t worry. I’m here with you.”
“[Lally] has had trouble with law enforcement in his life, but today, he and a few other citizens, along with our officers, when that officer went down, they pulled him to safety,” Chief Finner commented during the press conference. “I want to celebrate that.”
Per department policy, the injured officer has been placed on administrative leave.
