Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz has stated that he fully believes the U.S. Supreme Court will side with former President Donald Trump and allow him to stay on the ballot in Colorado due to the fact he has not been formally charged with insurrection in either one of the two criminal cases he’s facing that allege he was involved in efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. That is a very well made point. Cruz is a constitutional scholar so his thoughts and opinions on this topic should be taken seriously.
The comments from Cruz came during a recent episode of his popular podcast, “Verdict” where he and co-host Ben Ferguson had a discussion about the Supreme Court’s decision to hear the case after the Supreme Court in Colorado made the ruling that Trump committed insurrection on Jan. 6 and was in violation of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, making him ineligible to hold office.

Cruz said he believes the court will say in its opinion that it expresses “no opinion on whether or not an insurrection occurred on January 6.”
Cruz noted that Trump has been indicted in multiple criminal cases, and even though there is a perception among some that prosecutors are out to get Trump, he has not been indicted anywhere for insurrection.
“Jack Smith is in DC with a very liberal judge, he’s got a DC jury pool that is 94% Democrat, he’s got the most favorable environment in the world and you know what he hasn’t done? Indicted Trump for insurrection, and the only reason he hasn’t is because there’s no remote evidence that would prove that Trump had engaged in insurrection,” Cruz explained. “Donald Trump sent some tweets and stood up and gave a speech in which he told people to go peaceable, go peacefully peaceful. There, you cannot prove as a matter of law that telling people to be peaceful, is engaged in insurrection.”
“Insurrection is a legal term,” he added. “And there’s a reason no one has charged him with it because you couldn’t pass the laugh test.”
The Democratic Party is scared to death of Donald Trump. We know it. They know we know it. Which is why they really aren’t doing much to hide their efforts to take him out of the 2024 presidential race. There’s no way you can throw all of these charges at him, which is like throwing wet noodles at the wall to see if it sticks, and tell me there’s not a political motive behind it all.
Biden’s numbers are swirling down the toilet bowl. His economic plan is busted to pieces. He himself is under investigation for several potentially impeachable offenses. There’s little chance he can beat Trump in a general election race. So Democrats have two available options. Run a different candidate against the former president. Or remove Trump from the playing field. They are probably going to attempt to put both plans into action and see which one goes forward.
