Republican Rep. Victoria Spartz from the state of Indiana has flipped on her previous decision to retire from public office, stating she’s going to seek another term instead. Sometimes, you just aren’t ready to ride off into the sunset, you know? Plus, in times when the world around us seems to be slipping deeper into madness, voices of rationality are more in need than ever before. Maybe Spartz just feels she’s got more work to get done before she feels good about stepping away from it all?

Spartz announced just months after being reelected that she would not run for a third term in the lower chamber to spend more time at home with her family. Following a wave of GOP retirements in late 2023 and early 2024, Spartz reversed her decision and intends on filing for reelection, according to a statement from the congresswoman.
“Deciding where your duty lies – family, work, or country, is never an easy task. Earlier last year, I decided to take some time off from running for public office to recharge and spend more time in Indiana with my family,” Spartz went on to say. “However, looking where we are today, and urged by many of my constituents, I do not believe I would be able to deliver this Congress, with the current failed leadership in Washington, D.C., on the important issues for our nation that I have worked very hard on.”
“As someone who grew up under tyranny, I understand the significance of these challenging times for our Republic, and if my fellow Hoosiers and God decide, I will be honored to continue fighting for them. We must carry on the sacrifice of countless Americans for our liberties and keep the American dream alive for our children,” Spartz continued.

Nobody understands and appreciates freedom and liberty like those who at one point in their lives did not possess it. Folks who have immigrated to the United States — through LEGAL channels — from countries that had communist/socialist regimes in place will have a much clearer understanding of what liberty truly looks like and why it’s critical to fight to protect it.
The Cook Political Report characterizes Spartz’s seat in the “Solid Republican” category for 2024. The congresswoman secured her most recent term in 2022 by over 20 points. There are currently 17 other House Republicans not seeking another term, including several who are seeking statewide positions or Senate seats, according to the Press Gallery.
There are two upcoming special elections to fill vacancies left by expelled GOP Rep. George Santos of New York and former Speaker Kevin McCarthy of California on Feb. 13 and March 19, respectively.
We need more “solid Republicans,” that much is for sure. Our country is facing a number of crises that threaten our already tenuous hold on freedom, many of which were the result of progressive policies that are designed to obliterate the system as it exists to enable them an opportunity to rebuild it in the image of Karl Marx.
Remaining free will mean every day Americans taking ownership of their part in the process, either running or voting for those dedicated to conservative principles.
