Former President Donald Trump got some bad news on Friday, as Judge Arthur Engoron issued a ruling ordering him to fork over $350 million in damages, along with banning him “from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other legal entity in New York for a period of three years,” according to a 92-page ruling. The decision comes after an 11-week trial stemming from a lawsuit brought against him by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who alleges Trump committed financial fraud for years in order to gain certain benefits while he built his business.
Welcome to the age of lawfare, lades and gentlemen. If you don’t think this is motivated by politics, I’d say you’ve not been paying attention. Clearly, the deep state is trying to destroy everything Trump ever built as a means of making him end his political efforts and to punish him for getting in the way of their absurd and impossible mission of perfecting humanity and building a utopian society.
“In order to borrow more and at lower rates, defendants submitted blatantly false financial data to the accountants, resulting in fraudulent financial statements,” Engoron went on to say in the ruling, according to the Daily Caller. “When confronted at trial with the statements, defendants’ fact and expert witnesses simply denied reality, and defendants failed to accept responsibility or to impose internal controls to prevent future recurrences.”
Here’s more from the report:
Engoron already found in a September decision, which is on hold pending appeal, that Trump deceived banks and insurance companies by inflating his net worth and overestimating the value of his assets. He ruled in September that Trump’s business certificates should be revoked and his companies dissolved.
“[T]his Court hereby modifies its September 26, 2023, Decision and Order solely to the extent of removing the language ordering the LLCs cancellation en masse,” Engoron stated in the ruling.
Engoron also ordered Trump’s sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump, Jr. pay around $4 million each. Allen Weisselberg, former Chief Financial Officer of the Trump Organization, was ordered to pay $1 million.
In her closing brief delivered earlier this month, James said Trump and his company should be forced to hand over $370 million, which is far more than the initial amount of $120 million she was originally shooting for. See what I mean? Quite clearly, James wants Trump and those associated with him to suffer. They are trying to make an example out of him. If they are willing to go through all of this to him, and he’s a billionaire, just imagine what they will do to you for daring to stand up against the progressive agenda?
Engoron rejected in November Trump’s motion for a mistrial as “utterly without merit.” Trump had alleged there was “tangible and overwhelming” evidence of Engoron’s bias, claiming he was “co-judging” with his law clerk, Allison Greenfield, who has engaged in “public partisan activities.”
Back in October, Judge Engoron slapped the former president with a gag order to prevent him from talking openly about members of his staff after Trump made a post on Truth Social concerning Greenfield.
“Trump’s real estate empire is the only big business that had been threatened with dissolution under the state’s anti-fraud law, an Associated Press analysis of nearly 150 civil cases across 70 years found,” the report concluded.
