Former President Donald Trump’s fine from the fraud case brought against him by New York Attorney General Letitia James has increased from $354.9 million to $454 million due to a judge’s order, making the amount he’s supposed to pay three rungs above absurd and two above insane. I don’t care who you are, it should be obvious this amount is obscene. Clearly, James is attempting to make an example out of the former president. They want to scare conservatives all over the country into being quiet and going along with the progressive program or else face the same kind of “lawfare.”
The original payment was decided by Justice Arthur Engoron on Feb. 16, following a non-jury trial that lasted over three months.
Here’s more from Newsmax:
Engoron also ordered Trump’s adult sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, to each pay nearly $4.7 million, and the Trump Organization’s former chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, to pay $1.1 million, all including interest.
The payouts were determined on Thursday, and interest will continue to accrue. The judgment was made public on Friday.
Attorney General Letitia James accused the defendants of illegally overstating the value of Trump’s properties in order to inflate his net worth and obtain better loan and insurance terms.
Engoron also banned Trump for three years from serving in a top role at any New York company, or seeking loans from banks registered in the state. His adult sons received two-year bans from leadership roles.
The judge then slammed the former president by stating that Trump’s “complete lack of contrition and remorse borders on pathological.” I’m no legal genius, nor am I a psychologist, but is it possible he lacks remorse because he did nothing to be sorry for? We all know the left is trying to crucify him in these four indictments as a means of ruining his political career. Now they are attempting to destroy the company he spent almost his entire adult life building. Destruction is what they are after and they will not stop until they succeed.
The Republican former president also faces four unrelated criminal prosecutions, in which he has pleaded not guilty, as he seeks to regain the White House from Democrat Joe Biden. Trump has accused James and Engoron, both Democrats, of being corrupt, and called the case part of a witch hunt by political opponents.
Trump is planning to appeal the penalty he’s been slapped with to the Appellate Division, but in the meantime he will either have to fork over the cash for the fine or obtain a bond.
Engoron shot down a request that was made by a lawyer for the defendants, Clifford Robert, asking for the enforcement of the judgments to be delayed for a period of 30 days.
In an email that was sent out on Thursday morning to Robert, Judge Engoron said, “You have failed to explain, much less justify, any basis for a stay. I am confident that the Appellate Division will protect your appellate rights.”
This whole trial and the allegations brought against Trump have been shameful.
