President Joe Biden pulled a Jeb Bush on Sunday by demanding the audience that attended his St. Patrick’s Day speech at the White House clap during his comments. How sad and pathetic can you be to try and force people to support your speech by clapping, even if they disagree or think what you said was unremarkable? If you want people to back you up, say something that has value, contains truth, and touches the soul. Don’t be a dictator and demand that people honor your and your public statements.
The remarks made by the president came while he was speaking alongside Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar as they celebrated the history of the Irish here in the United States.
“We celebrate the bonds of our friendship today connecting millions of Irish Americans and American people,” Biden went on to say during the speech. “We celebrate the friendship between the two nations — one that has shaped our past, strengthened our present and inspires our future.”
The president then stated that the two nations celebrated over a century of diplomatic ties this year, noting the economic connections between Ireland and the U.S. continue to deepen and that both nations share common values.
“Ireland now is one of the top ten investors in the United States economy,” Biden added. “And our countries stand proudly for liberty and against tyranny. We stand together and oppose Russia’s brutal war of aggression in Ukraine. You can clap for that, please.”

via The Daily Wire:
While meeting with Varadkar late last week, Biden praised Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) speech attacking Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Senator Schumer contacted my staff, my senior staff, he was going to make that speech, and, uh, he, uh, I’m not going to exag — er — elaborate on the speech, he made a good speech and I think he, uh, expressed the serious concern shared not only by him, but by many Americans,” Biden replied.

Back during the 2016 presidential election, when Trump was running for the first time, brother of former President George W. Bush, Jeb Bush, a former governor, was desperately attempting to stop Trump from becoming the GOP nominee. And he was failing miserably. People were growing tired of the establishment, which Bush was most certainly a part of, and thus he was viewed as weak and extremely pathetic.
And his speech to a very small crowd in which he begged for applause did little to change that perception.
“I will not trash talk. I will not be a divider in chief or an agitator in chief. I won’t be out there blowharding, talking a big game without backing it up. I think the next president needs to be a lot quieter but send a signal that we’re prepared to act in the national security interests of this country — to get back in the business of creating a more peaceful world,” Bush said to the crowd, according to NBC News.
The crowd was silent as the grave in response, which prompted Bush to say, “Please clap.”
And that’s how we got one of the most cringe moments in political history.
