A brand new report coming out of The New Republic has revealed that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke out during a recent episode of The New Yorker podcast about why she wanted President Joe Biden to drop out of the race. Not only was she concerned about his cognitive health as displayed during the presidential debate he did with former President Donald Trump in June, but she was not a fan of his political machinations.

During the interview with host David Remnick, which was published for mass consumption on Thursday, Pelosi painted herself up to be one of the most genius political minds of our time, always a step in front of Biden and his reelection campaign. Apparently humility is one of her finer characteristics. She told Remnick that while her people were extremely confident that Biden would mop the floor with Trump, she urged him not to participate in the event.
“I said, [Trump’s] doggy doo-doo. You’re going to get doggy doo-doo on your shoe. It’s not a good thing,” Pelosi recounted. Humble and articulate. You just can’t get a more complete package than Nancy Pelosi. The California congress woman then said that she was “startled” by how bad Biden performed during the presidential debate.
Pelosi appeared on Morning Joe in July, where she signaled that she was no longer aligned with the messaging of the Biden campaign. While the campaign continuously asserted the incumbent’s unwavering intention to seek reelection, Pelosi spoke with a less definitive tone.
“It’s up to the president to decide if he’s going to run,” Pelosi stated during the podcast. “I want him to do whatever he decides to do, and that’s the way it is.” While the former speaker did not admit that she’s a person of high influence in the political realm, the show’s host wrote that her appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program sent a message to other politicians and people of influence to start calling on the president to drop from the race.
It was previously reported that Pelosi, along with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, made direct appeals to Biden urging him to drop out.
“I really wanted him to make a decision for a better campaign, because they were not facing the fact of what was happening.… We couldn’t see it go down the drain because Trump was going to be president and then he was going to take the House. Imagine! Imagine how that would be! Well, we don’t have to imagine. We saw,” Pelosi remarked. “I really wanted him to make a decision for a better campaign, because they were not facing the fact of what was happening.… We couldn’t see it go down the drain because Trump was going to be president and then he was going to take the House. Imagine! Imagine how that would be! Well, we don’t have to imagine. We saw.”
While quite a few folks have speculated that Pelosi was the architect behind the plans for Biden’s dropping from the race, she did what all politicians do when confronted with the rumors: deny, deny, deny.
“People were calling. I never called one person. I kept true to my word. Any conversation I had, it was just going to be with him. I never made one call. They said I was burning up the lines; I was talking to Chuck [Schumer]. I didn’t talk to Chuck at all,” she told Remnick. “I never called one person, but people were calling me saying that there was a challenge there. So there had to be a change in the leadership of the campaign, or what would come next?”
She then said that her goal was to ensure “Donald Trump would never set foot in the White House again.”
Let’s hope she fails miserably to attain her goal.
