Former President Donald Trump, along with his legal team are now on seeking to have Judge Juan Merchan disqualified from his New York trial. A recent revelation about the professional connections that Merchan has with Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump’s competition in the general election, is what led to this course of action being taken. The connection is that Harris’ campaign is a former client of Merchan’s daughter Loren.
I’d definitely say that makes for a pretty big conflict of interest, wouldn’t you? Our justice system has become far too politicized as of late. It’s time to expose the darkness by dragging it into the light. Only through knowing the truth can Americans make well educated and informed decisions at the polls.
The appeal submitted on Thursday argues that Merchan’s impartiality was compromised, citing his daughter’s financial ties to high-profile Democratic figures, including Harris. Loren Merchan’s consulting firm, Authentic Campaigns, reportedly saw a significant increase in business this year, nearly doubling its intake from the previous year with payments amounting to approximately $8 million from Adam Schiff’s (D-CA) campaign alone.
The firm also lists new clients such as Dan Goldman (D-CA) and Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), deepening the political connections that would pose conflicts of interest. Schiff, a notable figure in Trump’s impeachment, and other clients have extensively leveraged Merchan’s digital consulting services.
NEW: President Trump’s lawyers file a new request asking Judge Merchan to recuse based on presidential candidacy of Kamala Harris—a one time client of Merchan’s daughter, Loren.

Towards the start of the trial, Judge Merchan hit Trump with a gag order and basically shot down all of his defense motions. Just two weeks later, he found Trump guilty of violating the order and held him in contempt. And yet, despite the fact he has numerous conflicts of interest, such as financial ties to the Democratic Party and specific candidates, he’s been allowed to remain on the case.

In a post published on Substack Kelly wrote, “Democrats have paid the company owned by the politically active daughter of compromised Judge Juan Merchan at least $12.7 million in the first half of this year. Federal election reports show Authentic Campaigns, the consulting firm owned by Loren Merchan, raked in the windfall between January 1 and July 1, 2024. Her father currently presides over Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against Donald Trump in New York City.”
She then added, “The sum represents an 86 percent increase in Authentic Campaigns receipts from the same time period in 2022. Democratic elected officials, candidates, and PACs reported $6.8 million in payments to Merchan between January 1 and July 1, 2022, the last general election cycle.”
If you pay Authentic Campaigns’ website a visit you’ll see that they specialize in “digital marketing and fundraising.”
Trump’s sentencing for the conviction of 34 counts of falsifying business records was pushed back to September. This is clearly a strategic move. September is the height of the election cycle. This has folks wondering if the reason for the delay is to help assist his family’s business interests. Wouldn’t be the first time a Democrat abused political power to help family members become wealthy.
“Meanwhile, the gag order imposed on Trump remains in effect, prohibiting him from making public comments about the court’s legal staff or their relatives, which includes Loren Merchan. The order was upheld by an appeals court earlier Thursday, even after Trump’s conviction, ensuring that the former president’s ability to speak freely about the case and involved parties is curtailed until his sentencing in September,” Trending Politics News reported.
The Constitution guarantees Trump and all Americans the right to a fair trial. Is he getting one if the judge has conflicts of interest and the proceedings are held in area that is openly hostile to the former president? I think you know the answer. Trump’s seeking to have Merchan removed from the case is essential to upholding this right. And he’s not just fighting for himself. He’s fighting for the rights of all Americans. Yes, even liberal ones, though they don’t realize it or want to acknowledge it.
