The Federal Emergency Management Agency, known as FEMA, does not have enough funds in the coffers to provide help and financial assistance to the victims of Hurricane Helene, due to the fact that over the last two years, the agency has blown a whopping $1 billion in taxpayer funds on illegal migrants for housing. I want you to read that statement again.
The very purpose for which FEMA exists is to assist Americans in the middle of massive emergency situations, like, you know, hurricanes and natural disasters. Now they cannot fulfill their actual mission because they decided to hand out those tax dollars to people who broke the law by entering out country without legal permission and who aren’t even citizens.
Folks, this is what you get when progressives are calling the shots.
A total of 150,000 Americans who have reached out to the federal government out of desperation are not going to receive the level of assistance they need because somebody higher up the food chain within the administration decided that, in the long run, it’s better to bring illegal immigrants into the country and provide for their every need. Why? So they can provide them a path to citizenship and get them voting Democrat. Politicians, true to their nature, have sold us out for power and money.
‘FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season,’ Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas confessed on Wednesday.
Check out more from The Daily Mail:
Only last week, Congress passed a funding bill for an additional $20 billion for the anticipated hurricane season. A member of law enforcement surveys flood damage in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene on October 2, 2024 in Chimney Rock, North Carolina. The death toll has topped 180 people across the southeastern U.S. due to the storm, according to published reports, which made landfall as a category 4 storm last Thursday. Mayorkas says FEMA is running out of money to help. But it won’t be enough after Hurricane Helene ripped through Appalachia and the south killing nearly 200 Americans – with additional storms on the horizon.
And that is triggering lawmakers who are baffled after the taxpayer-funded agency pumped billions into nonprofits supporting illegal migrants. FEMA was given $640 million to support migrants in the 2024 fiscal year – and outrage is mounting that the agency is refusing to re-allocate those funds to disaster relief for Americans.
‘Mayorkas and FEMA — immediately stop spending money on illegal immigration resettlement and redirect those funds to areas hit by the hurricane,’ Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a post published on X. ‘Put Americans first.’
Former President Donald Trump’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., took to X and responded to the report about FEMA going bust by saying a simple, “WTF!” And that sums up most Americans’ thoughts on the matter, right?
Ashley Moody, the Attorney General for the state of Florida took an opportunity to hack and slash at FEMA like Michael Myers finding a teenage babysitter in a house all alone.
‘They have taken the FEMA emergency food and shelter program and over time siphoned off hundreds of millions of dollars into basically making it an illegal immigrant resettlement program,’ she commented on Thursday.
Earlier this year, Alejandro Mayorkas was impeached by House GOP members, however, due to liberals controlling the Senate, the case was not taken up in the higher chamber of Congress.
Many Republicans, and a select few Democrats, have openly criticized his leadership of DHS and have said he is more focused on facilitating migrants entering the U.S. than enforcing laws to restrict the flow of illegal immigration. This is evident in the 2023 creation of FEMA’s non-citizen-only Shelter and Service Program (SSP).
‘The Shelter and Services Program (SSP) provides funds to state, local, tribal, and nonprofit organizations to support sheltering and other eligible activities, including facility improvements, to support noncitizen migrants who have been encountered and released by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS),’ the DHS website stated.
The program, which was conceived two years ago, has received over a billion dollars to provide housing for illegal migrants. The budget for it doubled from $363.8 million last year to $650 million in 2024. No indication exists, according to the Daily Mail, that any of the cash set aside for the migrants will go to help Americans who are suffering catastrophic losses as a result of the hurricane.
