One of NBC News’ longtime veteran anchors, Andrea Mitchell, is leaving her current position hosting a news program during the noon hour — which nobody watches because we’re all at work trying to make enough pennies to buy a loaf of bread in the current economy — beginning next year, she said on Tuesday, revealing that she will be staying with her employer but taking on a different role.

In other words, the ratings tanked and so they’re shutting down her show and putting her in some lesser role to appease her and honor the contract she has with the company. Poor Mitchell. I guess she won’t get a daily platform from which to spew forth liberal nonsense and serve as a propagandist for the Democratic Party. Sad face emoji here.
“After sixteen years of being in the anchor chair every day, I want time to do more of what I love the most: more connecting, listening and reporting in the field, especially as whoever is elected next week is going to undertake the monumental task of handling two foreign wars and the political divisions here at home,” Mitchell went on to say on air. “So, after the inaugural next January — I’ve asked for the opportunity to continue covering those stories, but from a different vantage point — still with NBC News and at MSNBC and still as chief Washington and foreign affairs correspondent. Just not on the schedule of a daily show.”
That just has to sting, right? She’s watching her career implode in real time. Failure can either make you into a champion or kill your soul. Which will it be in this case?
The network said Mitchell will remain NBC News’ chief Washington correspondent and chief foreign affairs correspondent. She will continue her reporting across both NBC News and MSNBC, including major breaking news events and on big political nights, including the upcoming election.
“Andrea remains one of the country’s foremost and most trusted experts on foreign policy and domestic politics,” NBC News leadership went on to say to network staff in a note that announced Mitchell’s program coming to its end. “Her contributions to NBC News over the last 46 years have been invaluable to the network, and we are so pleased that she will remain an essential part of the News Group for years to come.”
You have to wonder if this announcement is making other low-ratings programs on the network nervous. Low ratings are an indication that viewers are not interested in the perspective being pushed on them through the network’s programming, which is yet another sign that our culture is swinging back toward center-right values and principles.
