Ohio Republican Sen. JD Vance stated this week during an interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience” that former President Donald Trump’s “political genius” is how he truly desires to know what everyone thinks about an issue because it shows that he’s open to learning new perspectives. And that is a rare quality to have when it comes to politicians. Most already come to the table with views set in stone and want to force everyone else to see things their way. This, by the way, is the exact opposite of how a real fascist would govern.
“[Trump] told me that he was talking to the gardener at Mar-a-Lago about who the vice presidential nominee should be,” Vance told Joe Rogan during their conversation. “And that’s one of, I think, Trump’s sort of political genius is he talks to everybody about everything.”
“And I was like, well, what did the gardener at Mar-a-Lago have to say about this conversation? Because this really directly impacts my life,” he added. “And, you know, he basically said, well, I think I’m probably going to pick you.”
Vance then admitted he started to think there was a real possibility he was going to be Trump’s pick earlier in the year because the former president asked him on multiple occasions who he thought the vice presidential nominee should be.
“I’d give him names of people that I thought would be pretty good at it. And a lot of the names that I gave him, he would criticize,” he explained during the episode. “And I almost felt like he was inviting me to throw myself out there.”

He said that the first time Trump discussed the idea of making him vice president was on the morning of July 13, the day that Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania. Vance said that Trump almost made the decision to announce Vance as his pick at the rally, but decided against it, opting to wait a couple of days later before breaking the news. The 40-year-old said that when he saw that Trump was shot, he thought that Trump had been killed.
He said that he was with his kids when he learned about the assassination attempt and that he grabbed his kids and raced home as soon as it happened. Once home, he said that he loaded up his guns and guarded the house.

Vance is right about Trump. He really does care about the problems that the American people deal with in their daily lives. We’ve heard stories about how he spoke with servers and wait staff concerning taxation on tips, which helped shape his policy on that issue. His care and concern for normal people and not just the wealthy or powerful that can benefit him is why people love him and why the left hates him.
A man who can’t be bought, who truly believes in the principles the nation stands for, is a huge threat to their vision for the future of the country.
