Reporters are determined to learn the hard way that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is not to be trifled with, as is evidenced by the series of dumb questions they continue to ask her this week. During the most recent press briefing she held, Leavitt announced that President Donald Trump would be slapping Canada, Mexico, and China with 25 percent tariffs for non-compliance with specific requests.
A reporter asked her if these tariffs would lead to inflation. The press secretary transformed into a Terminator and obliterated this individual right on the spot. Leavitt is a total rock star.
“Americans concerned about increased prices should look at what President Trump did in his first term: He effectively implemented tariffs and the avg inflation rate was 1.9%,” she told the reporter. Boom, baby! Hitting these leftist propaganda makers with facts that simply cannot be refuted. The mainstream media is getting smacked down and put in its place for the first time in a long, long time. Even during Trump’s first term, the press wasn’t sized down like this. And he did a lot of it back then too. It’s amazing.
Here’s more on the tariffs and the press conference via The Daily Mail:
Starting tomorrow, those tariffs will be in place,’ Leavitt told reporters during her second press briefing at the White House. She knocked down a report that Trump would leave himself wiggle room by imposing tariffs but not having them take effect until March 1. ‘I saw that report, and it is false,’ she said.
‘I was just with the President in the Oval Office, and I can confirm that tomorrow, the February 1 deadline that President Trump put into place in a statement several weeks ago continues. The President will be implementing tomorrow a 25% tariffs on Mexico, 25% tariffs on Canada, and a 10% tariff on China for the illegal fentanyl that they have sourced and allowed to distribute into our country, which has killed tens of millions of Americans,’ Leavitt continued during the press conference.
The press secretary, the youngest to occupy the office at the tender age of 27, referred to the tariffs as “promises made and promises kept by the President.”
A series of administrations have considered China to be the nation’s top competitor and a rising political power. The U.S. has long had friendly trade relations with both Canada and Mexico, although Trump clashed with both nations over immigration and trade during his first term, ultimately renegotiating NAFTA. She spoke hours after Trump once again said the U.S. doesn’t ‘need’ Canadian exports like lumber or cars that U.S. companies manufacture across the border.
On Thursday, the president said he was going to sit down with advisors and discuss whether the tariffs would apply to oil, which would impact many different kinds of products across the board. This is a point that is made abundantly clear in an episode of Taylor Sheridan’s new hit series, “Landman.” You can see the clip below. As a bonus, it also explains why solar panels and wind turbines aren’t effective replacements for oil. Beware. It contains strong language.
‘Oil is going to have nothing to do with it as far as I’m concerned’ Trump told members of the press when asked about it.
