A brand new poll released on Sunday by CBS News likely has liberals all across our great nation shaking their fists at the heavens today as it reveals that President Donald Trump is currently enjoying his highest approval rating over both of his terms with 53 percent of voters saying he’s doing a good job calling the shots thus far. Left-wing propaganda makers in the mainstream media have been spinning wild yarns about how much America actually hates Trump, with some going so far as to say he somehow cheated to win the previous election.
Oh, the irony.
We’re only a few weeks into the president’s second administration and voters already feel like he has fulfilled a number of promises he made on the campaign trail, especially when it comes to issues like immigration, foreign policy, and taking a big ole metaphorical machete to government waste spending, Jason-style. Margaret Brennan, yes the infamous “Margaret” from all the memes — host for CBS’ “Face the Nation” program, opened her show on Sunday by chatting about the new poll and what it revealed about voters’ feelings toward President Trump with CBS News Elections and Surveys Executive Director Anthony Salvanto.
During the segment, Salvanto explained how the majority of those who participated in the poll not only approved of the president’s job thus far, but 70 percent say he’s sticking to his word and fulfilling promises he made while campaigning for a second term.
“I will keep it simple, Margaret. He’s doing, in the eyes of the public, what he said he would do in the campaign. There’s political value in that. In fact, 70% of people say he’s doing what he promised. That’s whether they approve of him or not,” Salvanto said.
“Now, there’s another part of this that continues over from the campaign. There were words that he was described as being tough, being energetic, and he still is today in big majority numbers,” Salvanto continued during the segment. “So as people take a look in these first few weeks, there’s been a lot of activity. They’re getting that general sense of governance, and that’s being reflected in these early numbers. So that’s perception.”
“The survey, which polled 2,175 U.S. adults between Feb. 5-7, found 69% described Trump as tough, 63% said he is energetic, 60% called him focused and 58% described him as effective. During his first few weeks in office, 49% of respondents said the president was doing more than they had expected, 41% said it was as much as they had expected and only 9% thought it was less than they had expected,” The Daily Caller reported.
“While Trump shows positive signs on issues like deporting criminal illegal immigrants, with 59% approving of the crackdown, some Americans appear slightly concerned with issues regarding the economy. According to the survey, 66% of Americans said they did not believe the administration was focusing enough on lowering prices of goods and services, with 31% saying it was the right amount and 3% saying it was too much,” it added.
Those who participated in the survey were a little on the mixed emotions side when they gave feedback on prices they’ve been seeing over the last few weeks, with a total of 47 percent stating that prices in general were going up while 41 percent said they were about the same. Poll results also showed that there was a divide when it comes to the cost of gas and eggs, with 33 percent stating gas prices went up and 63 percent saying the price of eggs also increased. Another 41 percent said gas was the same, with 23 percent saying eggs were the same as they have been as well.
When it comes to how Trump is dealing with the conflict between Israel and Hamas, 54 percent approved of his leadership while 46 percent were none too happy. Last Tuesday evening, the president held a press conference following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu where he revealed that America was planning to take over the Gaza Strip and move all the Palestinians out to other countries, a move that stunned reporters into silence.
The DC concluded their report by saying, “While 47% of respondents said the idea was bad, 40% said they were still unsure of the issue and 13% believed it was a good idea. Notably, when asked how much they had read about the president’s comments on the issue, only 28% said they had read ‘a lot,’ 38% said some, 23% said ‘not much,’ and 11% said ‘nothing at all.'”
