On Wednesday, the U.S. Senate officially confirmed former Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler of Georgia to the head position of the Small Business Administration, also known as the SBA, a critical component of Trump’s cabinet. She was confirmed by a vote of 52-46.
“America’s entrepreneurs are one of our greatest assets and they have a big role to play in our future prosperity. Sen. Loeffler will be their champion,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune, went on to say in an address on the floor ahead of her vote.
Loeffler had served as a senator for a brief period of time prior to losing in a special election to communist leaning Sen. Raphael Warnock in 2021. She previously used to align with moderate values, but has taken a sharp turn toward MAGA policies and support of President Donald Trump when running for the Senate and has not looked back since.
The former senator has been an important player when it comes donating to the Republican Party over the years, serving in several critical roles within top rated financial firms, including the Intercontinental Exchange. Her husband, Jeff Sprecher is currently serving as the chairman of the New York Stock Exchange.
“She takes over an agency that has played a major role in recent years, especially as part of the recovery from COVID-19 and trying to keep businesses afloat in the years since. The SBA is also playing a role in hurricane recover in North Carolina and Florida through its disaster loan program,” The Hill said.
“Kelly Loeffler knows there’s nothing small about small business,” Thune continued in his address. “Every decision an entrepreneur makes is a big decision. It’s their livelihood, their dreams and their future that’s on the line. Kelly Loeffler understands this and I look forward to working with her to support small businesses and strengthen our economy.”
Small businesses are the back bone of the country. More individuals work for small businesses than they do for large corporations. If we want our economy to recover, we need to support these smaller companies and reduce regulations that make it difficult for folks to get started in their chosen industry.
Less taxation on small business owners will mean more profit which translates into more expansion and job creation, thus enabling more folks to get back to work. And more Americans with more money in their pockets means economic stimulation.
And now we have MAGA in the SBA, so there’s little doubt that Trump’s America first agenda will be enacted in the agency. Good news for our nation.
