Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett is now finding out that while America has free speech, that doesn’t mean your words don’t have consequences. Liberals have been so used to getting away with murder — proverbially — that with a new sheriff in town taking up residence in the White House, they’ve forgotten they are beholden to the law.
Crockett made some rather horrific comments about Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who is wheelchair bound, referring to him as “Hot Wheels.” House Republicans filed a formal resolution to censure her on Wednesday, and she’s now about to face the music for the remark.
Rep. Randy Weber, a Texas Republican and author of the resolution, confirmed the potential consequences for Crockett in a post on X, saying, “I have officially FILED the censure resolution against Rep. Jasmine Crockett. She must be censured and held accountable for the venomous rhetoric she spews as a representative of the Democratic Party.”
The measure goes on to cite the speech from March 22 which was delivered before an audience attending a Human Rights Campaign event, where Crockett not only called Abbott “Governor Hot Wheels,” but also called him “a hot ass mess.”
Critics of Crockett dropped the proverbial elbow on her over the comments made to mock Abbott’s disability. The governor was in an accident back in 1984 and has been confined to a wheelchair ever since.
“The story of our great governor of Texas is one of unwavering resilience and perseverance,” Weber said during an interview on Fox News on Tuesday. “Meanwhile, the actions of Jasmine Crockett – stooping to vile levels of discrimination and despicable political attacks – are nothing short of reprehensible.”
Webber than added, “It’s painfully obvious she was never taught a single thing about Texas class, as her behavior is a disgrace to everything Texas and the United States stands for.”

The resolution, which was referred to committee, formally accuses Crockett of engaging in conduct “unbecoming of a Member of Congress.” It calls for her to be publicly censured, present herself on the House floor for the announcement, and have the resolution read aloud by the Speaker. This isn’t the first time Crockett has stirred backlash. The resolution also points to a May 2024 hearing where she allegedly made inflammatory remarks about another member’s appearance during a heated exchange.
Crockett has since attempted to walk back her latest remarks, denying any reference to Abbott’s disability.
“I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable,” Crockett wrote on X. “Literally, the next line I said was that he was a ‘Hot A** Mess,’ referencing his terrible policies.”
Do you guys smell that? *sniff, sniff* Yeah, that’s definitely a big, steaming pile of bulls**t.
Her explanation has gone over like a lead balloon.
“Jasmine…words have meanings & actions have consequences,” Weber later stated in a follow-up post. “I look forward to introducing my resolution to censure you for your words and actions.”
The Texas congresswoman responded on Tuesday, referring to the resolution as being motivated by politics and then accused the GOP of engaging in “selective outrage.”
“Keep that same energy for all people, not just your political adversaries,” she snapped. “Instead of obsessing over and hanging on to my every word, maybe my political foes should focus on doing the work of the people who elected us to improve their lives.”
