The U.S. Supreme Court handed President Donald Trump a huge victory on Tuesday, slapping a block on a judge’s order that the administration rehire thousands of employees that were slashed in his efforts to cut waste spending and dismantle parts of the bloated bureaucracy of the federal government.
Supreme Court justices ruled that a hold is to be put on the March 13 injunction from U.S. Judge William Alsup of San Franciso, which required that six federal agencies rehire thousands of probationary employees while litigation that challenges whether or not the dismissal is legal.
A brief, unsigned order from the court stated that nine non-profit organizations who were given an injunction as a response to the lawsuit they filed did not have any legal standing to sue. It also said its order didn’t tackle claims by other plaintiffs in the case, “which did not form the basis of the district court’s preliminary injunction.”
“Liberal Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson publicly dissented from the decision. Alsup’s ruling applied to probationary employees at the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Agriculture, Department of Energy, Department of Interior and the Treasury Department,” the Economic Times reported.
It added, ” In a separate case, a federal judge in Baltimore also ordered the administration to reinstate thousands of fired probationary workers at 18 federal agencies in 19 mostly Democratic-led states and Washington, D.C., which had sued over the mass firings.
“In a separate case, a federal judge in Baltimore also ordered the administration to reinstate thousands of fired probationary workers at 18 federal agencies in 19 mostly Democratic-led states and Washington, D.C., which had sued over the mass firings,” the article read.
Ever since taking office back in January, both Trump and billionaire SpaceX CEO and advisor Elon Musk, have both been moving at warp speed to shrink the size of government and save American millions of dollars — billions really — in government waste spending.
The administration has been strongly encouraging SCOTUS to lift the order from Alsup’s order, stating that he had stepped over the line in his authority by directing them to rehire 16,000 workers. The administration then paddled the orders of a number of different judges that have been tossing roadblocks in the way of MAGA policies.
The judge faulted the administration for improperly terminating en masse the probationary workers and cast doubt on the justification presented by the government that the firings were the result of poor employee performance.
Probationary workers typically have less than one year of service in their current roles, though some are longtime federal employees serving in new roles.
Alsup, who was appointed to the bench by former Democratic President Bill Clinton, went on to say at an earlier hearing in the case, “It is a sad day when our government would fire some good employee and say it was based on performance when they know good and well that’s a lie.”

This is great news for the administration. Many judges across the country are using the bench to become activists for the Democratic Party. It’s beginning to get out of hand. Perhaps this will serve as a deterrent?
