A federal judge has given the thumbs up for the Department of Government Efficiency to be given full access to the federal government’s sensitive data systems for the Treasury System. Every Democrat in Congress just blew steam out of their ears. Prepare for a total meltdown on all the news programs for the next several days.
The ruling, handed down on Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Jeannette Vargas for the Southern District of New York, lifted the final legal restriction slapped on four DOGE employees who had been assigned to the Treasury. Vargas also loosened a previous order after the Trump administration demonstrated that they had developed an appropriate process to vet and train employees.
“The ruling is on a case that New York Attorney General Letitia James and 18 other Democratic attorneys general had brought in an effort to block DOGE’s access to the Treasury systems,” Just the News reported.
In April, Vargas granted permission for a DOGE worker to have access to the sensitive payment and data systems after completing the same training that employees of the Treasury are required to take and allowing the submission of a financial disclosure report.
Prior to that ruling, Vargas in February largely sided with the states and prohibited DOGE employees from accessing the system, deciding that the Treasury’s process for granting access to the sensitive data was too rushed and haphazard, likely violating the law. In her Tuesday ruling, Vargas required the Treasury to follow its protocols for vetting and training DOGE staffers. However, she said that she will not require the agency to ask permission each time it seeks to add new members to the DOGE team.
“[T]here is little utility in having this Court function as Treasury’s de facto human resources officer each time a new team member is onboarded,” Vargas went on to say in her order.
What is the government trying to prevent DOGE from finding? By throwing blocks in the road for an agency whose sole purpose is to chop waste spending and save taxpayer dollars is not a good look. We the People have every right to know how our money is being spent.
Government officials seem to forget the cash that pays their salaries and funds their departments is stripped out of our paychecks before we even get to see it. No matter how you cut the cheese, taking a person’s income, the fruits of their labor, is immoral.
It’s even more immoral to blow it on silly projects — most of which are nothing more than glorified money laundering schemes.
Let’s hope DOGE uncovers the truth about where the money’s going and taxpayers finally get some justice.
