The MAGA Movement has scored yet another victory. Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) announced that he will not be seeking re-election after rumors began to float around that he would have to deal with a primary challenge. And that challenge was going to come from someone who believes wholeheartedly in the America First agenda of the current administration.
Bacon — what a shame he’s named after the nectar of the gods — stood with the creatures skulking around along the bottom of the swamp, holding opposing positions to President Donald Trump on tariffs and defense policy. To say he has few Republican friends would be an understatement.
To say the GOP within the House is celebrating the fact they won’t have to tolerate this Republican in Name Only (RINO) for another term…also an understatement.
via The American Tribune:
For context, the term RINO, or Republican In Name Only, is a longstanding shorthand conservatives use to describe traitorous politicians who betray their constituents by adopting swamp politics and abandoning their conservative principles once they move to Washington, D.C.
In any case, the announcement was made in a June 28, 2025, post to social media, where a large conservative account said, “🚨 BREAKING: Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) has just announced he will NOT seek re-election in 2026. So long, you anti-Trump RINO!”
In the comments under the post, conservatives rejoiced that the RINO was stepping down and speculated about his replacement. One such comment said, “Bacon’s retirement is a win for America First. His track record of undermining Trump’s agenda—opposing tariffs to protect Nebraska farmers, voting against border security funding, and cozying up to defense contractors—proves he was never a true conservative.”
The same user then stated, “The real issue? His district saw $21M in outside spending during his last race, with lobbyists propping up his campaigns to maintain the status quo. Good riddance. Weak Republicans who side with D.C. insiders over voters deserve to be primaried,” going on to add, “Next step: Replace him with a leader who won’t buckle to globalist pressure or waste taxpayer cash on endless foreign wars.”
Being named “Bacon” can be either a gift or a curse depending on whether you’re a jerk or a good guy. In this case, it’s definitely a curse. Social media users made that point very clear.
One individual said, “Beautiful, Don Bacon sucked. Imagine having two great names – Don and Bacon – and somehow being the worst.” Another user was in full agreement saying, “He’s the only Bacon I don’t like. There must be some massive scandal about to break if he’s dipping out.”
A comment went on to provide some speculation for why Bacon decided to ride into the sunset, suggesting, “The only reason he’s not running is that he knew he would be primaried, and he didn’t want to go out being a loser. He’s still a loser.”
Continuing that line of thought, a user added, He knew he was gonna get embarrassed, so he quit. 🤣🤣 just like little Adam. They know what happened to miss piggy.”
Democrats, on the other hand, were wildly disappointed with Bacon’s decision.
A leftist commenter said, “Don Bacon is exactly the kind of Republican we need right now. He’s not perfect, but he’s trying to slow the momentum of the MAGA sledgehammer that’s steamrolling everything in its path, including reason, civility, and compromise. The second someone like Bacon tries to pull this party out of the ditch, the purity police show up to humiliate him and force him out. It’s not about policy anymore,” dramatically adding, “It’s about blind loyalty. And that’s not strength. That’s a cult.”
Okay, so if a liberal says something like this about a politician, you can guarantee he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing. And in that case, he or she needs to hit the road.
