Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), just got some bad news with the release of new polling data. It seems, according to a new poll from Punchbowl News, he’s officially fallen behind state Attorney General Ken Paxton. And not by a little bit either. He’s trailing by a massive number of points.
How massive? Try 22. Yes, you read that right. The Republican in Name Only (RINO), fell behind Paxton by a total of 50 percent to his 28 percent. Ouch. Most definitely going to feel that one in the morning.
Cornyn shouldn’t be shocked by this turn of events. Republican voters in the Lone Star state are sick and tired of establishment politicians who claim to be principled and once they are voted into office sell their constituents up the river for the sake of their own careers.
Another tough pill for the Texas Republican to swallow is that out of those who were surveyed, only a total of 27 percent want to see him remain in the Senate. A total of 54 percent want him kicked to the curb and fresh blood put in his seat.
Can you blame his constituents? This man is a career politician who has been in office since the early 2000s and seems to only be interested in looking out for himself and other fake conservative parasites in Congress.
Check out more information on the poll via Punchbowl News:
Republican pollster Robert Blizzard conducted the poll of 600 Republican primary voters on May 27-28. It was done on behalf of the Educational Freedom Institute, a nonpartisan nonprofit that advocates for school choice programs. This isn’t the only poll in the past month that has shown some deeply unsettling numbers for Cornyn. We scooped that the Senate Leadership Fund, the GOP leadership-aligned super PAC backing Cornyn, found the incumbent down 16 points in a survey conducted from April 27 to May 1.
When asked in a recent TV interview why he was trailing Paxton in early polls, Cornyn attributed it to “primarily name identification.” But only 7% of voters hadn’t heard of Cornyn, per Blizzard’s poll, while 5% had not heard of Paxton.
Sorry to break it to Sen. Cornyn, but the problem isn’t lack of name identification. It’s the opposite. Everyone knows who he is, his true identity, and that’s why they are ready for someone else who is principled and authentic to represent them in the Senate.
Cornyn has been a big supporter of gun control laws in the past, particularly, red flag laws. He also helped create the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which sought to enhance background checks for young folk looking to purchase firearms.
Add to that how he suggested in 2023 that the Republican Party look at other individuals to be the candidate they back for the presidential race in 2024 and not Trump, and you can see why the base is ready to give him the heave-ho.
All I can say is, Cornyn being booted in favor of Paxton is a good move. The people of Texas know what they’re doing.
