Some newly declassified bits of a letter that was penned by former Obama adviser Susan Rice seems to suggest that General Michael Flynn was not being included in talks about alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Which is precisely what Flynn has been saying from the beginning. Deep state actors tried very hard to silence this man. And now we know why.
The email, which was sent by Rice to herself, offers massive vindication for Flynn, who served as President Donald Trump’s national security advisor. General Flynn was later charged by special counsel Robert Mueller with lying while under oath during an investigation carried bout by the FBI.
In the letter, Rice, who was Obama’s national security advisor, wrote up a summary of a meeting from Jan. 5, 2017, between herself, Obama, then-Deputy U.S. Attorney General Sally Yates, and disgraced former FBI Director James Comey.
“From a national security perspective, President Obama said he wants to be sure that, as we engage with the incoming team, we are mindful to ascertain if there is any reason we cannot share information fully as it relates to Russia,” Rice stated.

At the time, members of the Obama administration were racing to finalize a report on Russian interference in the 2016 election, a product that eventually suggested Trump partnered with Russian forces to win the election.
“Comey said he does have some concerns that incoming NSA Flynn is speaking frequently with Russian Ambassador Kislyak,” the email reveals in a new declassified excerpt. “Comey said that could be an issue as it relates to sharing sensitive information.”
“President Obama asked if Comey was saying the NSC should not pass sensitive information related to Russia to Flynn,” Rice added. “Comey replied ‘potentially.’”
“[Comey] added that he has no indication thus far that Flynn has passed classified information to Kislyak, but he noted that ‘the level of communication is unusual,'” the letter continued.
What wasn’t contained in the letter is why Comey believed it was “unusual” for Flynn, who was the incoming national security advisor, to talk so early on with his Russian counterpart. Convenient how important facts like that are always not to be found in documentation like this, isn’t it?
The email, whose newly classified portions were obtained by The Federalist, appears to suggest that Obama and his inner circle were focused on targeting Flynn before the first Trump administration even began. Mueller’s report concluded that the FBI should never have investigated allegations of collusion between Trump and Russia, and it found “no derogatory information” about Flynn apart from his guilty plea to lying under oath.
The DOJ recently came to the conclusion in a report that Mueller’s FBI essentially jumped Flynn at the time. This eventually became the basis for a politically motivated prosecution against the general. Just before Trump left office during his first term, he issued a pardon for Flynn and overturned his conviction.
A series of handwritten notes from the investigation reveal that top counterintelligence officials working in the FBI officially intended “prosecute him or get him fired,” the report said.
“The DOJ is currently in the process of dismissing all remaining charges against Flynn, who remains out of government. However, President Trump in March appointed him to a board that oversees standards and curriculum for the nation’s military academies,” the article concluded.
