New York Attorney General Letitia James is once again embroiled in a scandal. This time it’s based off some truly despicable, heartless comments made about the recent ambush of an Immigration Customs and Enforcement agent. The incident occurred in Manhattan’s Fort Washington Park.
Suspects Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez and Cristian Aybar Berroa, were captured on surveillance video purposefully targeting the officer and firing their weapons before taking off into the night. What’s really going to make your blood pressure skyrocket is that these two individuals have had several contacts with law enforcement and an outright deportation order, but were released back on the streets.
Mora Nunez, an illegal immigrant from the Dominican Republic, was taken into custody on several occasions in NYC. Nunez was charged with felony larceny, assault, even a few weapons charges.
Aybar Berroa had previously been arrested 8 times since 2022. There’s a deportation order out for him, but somehow he got released under parole and bail reform policies.
This is the incident that Attorney General Letitia James decided to use in an interview with CNN to insult ICE agents and accuse them of engaging in kidnapping. During the conversation, James said, “What we are seeing is masked ICE agents without any insignia kidnapping innocent individuals.”

Well, first off, if they came here illegally and have violated our laws, then I’m not sure the word “innocent” can accurately apply to them. These are bad guys. Criminals with lengthy records who came to America to escape the consequences of the things they did back in their own country.
How outrageous that the top law officer in New York is taking the side of the villains in the story.
What we’re seeing with these comments is that this isn’t a simple disagreement about immigration policy. You have Democrats actively attempting to aid dangerous, violent criminals in beating the legal system and staying in our country illegally. They know full well these people will break the law again.
But all that matters tot he radical left is having inflated voter rolls to work with against Republicans in 2028.
Citizens of New York want to know their elected officials actually care about them and their safety. Allowing dangerous criminals to walk the streets is kind of the opposite of that. On top of that, you have James stoking the fires of division even more by making up lies about ICE agents kidnapping illegals, increasing the level of danger law enforcement puts itself in on a daily basis.
James need to face consequences for both her words and her actions.
