Agricultural Secretary Brooke Collins is feeling the heat as many on the right accuse her of betraying the MAGA movement by seeming to suggest some form of amnesty could be necessary to keep the “good illegals” who work for farmers to avoid deportation. This would be to prevent interruption in the American food supply.
The outrage towards Collins is coming despite repeated denials that farm workers here illegally will be given amnesty. But it’s not just Collins who seems to, underneath the surface, float the idea. Even President Donald Trump himself seems to be leaning that way.
During an interview on the Fox News program, “Mornings with Maria,” on Thursday Rollins said, “Listen, this president has been resolute on no amnesty, mass deportation — but there are programs currently within the government under Lori Chavez de Rimmer, our secretary, our great secretary of labor, the H2A visa program.”
“This president, his heart is with the farmers,” she continued. “It always has been. And we will work nonstop until we find the right solution, but it does not include amnesty and certainly moving toward the American workforce that he envisions.”
Over the course of the last several weeks, the president himself has made a series of vague comments about needing to find a way to mitigate the damage that mass deportation has had on farms across the U.S.
“If a farmer is willing to vouch for these people in some way,” the president stated during his an event in Iowa last week, “I think we’re going to have to just say that’s going to be good, right? We don’t want to do it where we take all of the workers off the farms.”
As you might imagine, this is not at all sitting well with many in the MAGA base. Steve Bannon, host of the “War Room” podcast was definitely not comfortable with amnesty being on the table.

Just last month, Trump took to Truth Social where he posted, “Our great farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long-time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace.”
“That is not good…Changes are coming!” Trump added.
Turning Point USA founder and conservative pundit Charlie Kirk issued a warning to Trump that following the guidance from the “ruling class” and dropping mass deportations in favor of amnesty could split the MAGA movement that paved the way for him to have a second term.
“Literally the day before President Donald Trump was signing the ‘big beautiful bill,’ I got a couple phone calls from people that you would call members of the ruling class,” Kirk went on to say during the July 7 episode of The Charlie Kirk Show. “A lot of money and a lot of connections. They said, ‘Now, we need mass amnesty.’”
“If you want to break our coalition, go and push amnesty,” Kirk stated on air. “That right there would be a complete collapse of everything that we have worked for, everything.”
