Notorious Rep. Al Green (D-TX) is once again having a psychotic break with reality and threatening to impeach President Donald Trump for the third time. Anytime something happens that Green disagrees with, it turns into an excuse for him to toss around the “I-word.” He’s become so cringe that even his own party is rolling its collective eyes at him.
After all, the radical left-wing element within the Democratic Party has tried to impeach the president on two separate occasions and failed miserably during both. They look at the 77-year-old congressman as an embarrassment for continually throwing temper tantrums.
Green threatening impeachment has become like a toddler threatening to hold his breath if he doesn’t get what he wants. Eventually, the toddler passes out and starts to breathe again and we’re right back where we started.
Guess how many times the Texas Democrat has attempted to impeach President Trump? Five times. Five. Times. His attempts started back in 2017 and have continued all the way to now. And now he’s planning on giving it a sixth go .
According to the Daily Mail, no other lawmaker in modern American history has filed as many articles of impeachment against an individual president as Green. What a legacy, guys.
“There are no circumstances that will prevent me from continuing to challenge the bigotry emanating from the presidency,” Green went on to say during an event in Illinois. “I will not stop. And I promise you, this President, he’s going to be brought down.”
“He has to be brought down,” the Texas Democrat added. “I’m talking about politically, we will bring him down. He will be impeached again.”
The Democrat’s announcement indicates that once Congress returns from the August recess that he may introduce a formal resolution to impeach Trump. But without control of the lower chamber, the Democrat’s impeachment pursuit won’t have legs. If Green makes good on his pledge, it would be the third time he’s moved to impeach Trump this year. These are in addition to his three previously failed attempts to impeach the Republican during his first term in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
His third attempt to impeach President Trump this year? Three times in eight months? Absolutely absurd. What a waste of time and resources. Green should be concerned about the needs of his constituents, but instead, he’s worried about making a name for himself and getting revenge against the president. How petty.
Green filed articles in May citing Trump as a threat to democracy, and in June, he filed articles against the president for bombing nuclear sites in Iran. Few of his colleagues joined his bandwagon to nowhere. The effort over Iran outraged many Democrats, with one privately venting to Axios that the effort was ‘a completely unserious and selfish move.’
Even veteran party bosses like Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi voted against the Iran impeachment. Every impeachment effort that Green has put forward to remove Trump has been voted down by Democrats.
One of House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jefferies’ spokespersons did not, as of this writing, respond to a request for a comment.
“Green has served a deep blue portion of Houston for 20 years, but that district is threatened now that Republican legislators in Texas are remaking the congressional boundaries in the state ahead of schedule,” the report said.
In order to throw a wrench in the machine and stop Texas from redistricting, Democrats in the state House ran away from home to Illinois, where Green gave a speech on Monday, promising to try and boot Trump once again.
