In an act of stunning hypocrisy, Stacey Abrams became the latest leftist to defy the mask mandates that her side is so adamant about keeping in place. On a trip to an elementary school in Decatur, Georgia, an eastern suburb of Atlanta, Abrams apparently thought it would be a good idea to go maskless while surrounded by young children who were forced to cover their own faces. Fox News had the whole scoop:
Abrams visited Glennwood Elementary School outside of Atlanta this past week to kick off the third annual African American read-in, where she met with young students and teachers. The principal, Dr. Holly Brookins, took to Twitter after the visit to post four pictures on her Twitter account of Abrams’ visit, which included three pictures of Abrams without a mask, despite the Decatur City Commission reinstating a mandatory masking ordinance last month.
The picture that went viral was Abrams sitting on the floor with her legs crossed and smiling without a mask on while the dozens of children and adults behind her were all wearing masks. Abrams’s quote tweeted the picture and told Brookins that her visit was ‘spectacular, delightful, and outstanding.’
As of Sunday morning, Brookins’ Twitter account appears to be deactivated and Abrams’ quote tweet is no longer on her Twitter account, but that hasn’t slowed down the backlash as the picture spreads across social media.
This comes just a mere week after California Governor Gavin Newsom, along with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and San Francisco Mayor London Breed, all posed for pictures without masks during last weekend’s NFC Championship Game between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. Garcetti laughably assured his critics that he holds his breath while taking maskless photos. What a bizarre world they have built for themselves, and for us.
This is only the latest in the long line of mask and lockdown hypocrisy that’s seen Democratic Party elites gallivanting around and ignoring their own rules. Everyone remembers Pelosi’s day at the hair salon while San Francisco was in full lockdown, and Newsom’s trip to a birthday party at the posh French Laundry restaurant in Napa Valley. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at least decided that instead of flouting NYC’s draconian COVID rules, she’d take a trip to the free state of Florida in order to party and sip cocktails maskless in a busy bar. She later tried to deflect by bizarrely asserting that those calling her out were sexually frustrated.
But while many of these politicians were caught in the act with photos that were never meant to become public, Stacey Abrams posed for the photo-op as though the thought never even crossed her mind that she isn’t above the mandate. The irony is that of all the people in the photo, Abrams, at 48, is in vastly more danger of serious COVID complications than elementary school children, who are rarely ever hospitalized with the disease.
This just goes to show that while the higher-ups in the Democratic Party want you and I to be very afraid of COVID, they themselves are certainly not. It’s plain to see just how much this is about control and how little it’s about public health. In the meantime, at least, they provide us with a good laugh. Abrams’ old opponent, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (whom Abrams claim stole the election from her), was among those who didn’t waste the opportunity to take a pot-shot at her on Twitter, and we can’t say we blame him!
Stacey Abrams wants state government mask mandates for Georgians and their children.
But it looks like they wouldn’t apply when she’s attending a photo op. https://t.co/A7H8U6eXKS
