Late yesterday, the Senate voted in favor, by a margin of 57-40, of Rand Paul’s bill that would put a permanent end to the federal government’s insane masking policy on airplanes and public transportation. This policy has been in place for two years and affects people as young as two years old.
The Daily Caller quoted Rand Paul as he laid out his reasoning for the bill that shouldn’t be needed, but unfortunately has to be needed, right now:
“Today, the Senate said enough is enough, and sent a message to unelected government bureaucrats to stop the anti-science, nanny state requirement of travel mask mandates,” Paul said in a statement after the vote.
“Since March 2020, unelected bureaucrats have incessantly declared that we should ‘follow the science.’ But the same bureaucrats continue to defy science by imposing an ineffective and restrictive mask mandate for individuals traveling on public transit and airplanes. As the entire world is learning to live with COVID, the federal government still uses fear mongering to stubbornly perpetuate its mandates, rather than giving clear-eyed, rational advice on how to best protect yourself from illness,” he continued.
“That is why, I forced this vote, and I applaud the Senate for rejecting this nonsense,” Paul added
Considering that tyrannical (and both unnecessary and unsuccessful) public health policies are only going away because November’s midterm poll numbers show a more fatal threat to Democrats’ chances of retaining slim House and Senate majorities than Covid ever posed to people, one would think that every Republican would whole-heartedly embrace medical and political science. Even eight Democrats crossed the aisle in an effort to regain the humanizing feature of faces in public.
Well, one would be wrong. What’s the saying? Classic GOP? Only the Republicans could lose with this much momentum? Romney sucks? It’s almost impossible to find words. Look at this roll call vote:
Kudos to the 49 Senate Republicans (all but Romney) and 8 Democrats (highlighted) who voted for @RandPaul‘s bill to ban Biden’s airplane/public transit mask mandate!
Bipartisanship!!!

Incredibly, forever-RINO Mitt Romney voted against Senator Paul and every other of his forty-nine colleagues in some inexplicable maneuver that would keep emotionally- and medically-damaging diapers on everyone’s faces.
The Federalist had the story from here, and the way they frame the vote makes Romney look even more detestable (if that was even possible):
“Republican Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah voted with a room filled with several bare-faced Democrats on Tuesday to keep the federal mask mandates for toddlers as young as two years old.”
We even have the actual roll call vote too. Romney votes at the 1:25 mark:
Mitt Romney is the only Senate HELP Committee Republican to join Democrats in voting to allow federal mask mandates for toddlers. See 1:24. pic.twitter.com/tm7eEUtuDY

Despicable. The irony and hypocrisy of this vote is laid wholly bare by the fact that America’s contemptible ruling class is crammed into a space mask-free and enjoying the freedom of fresh air. Romney didn’t feel like he needed a mask, but he damn well thinks you and your toddler do. What a filthy human being. Did Big Pharma pay him for that vote? The Ukrainians? Between Romney and that lame governor, Utah really has some explaining to do.
What medical literature does he have that no one else in the world does at this point? Haven’t we done studies showing airplanes have never been vectors thanks to the high-quality air filtration and circulation? Don’t we know masks are mere theater? Didn’t the CDC say we don’t need them? This is indefensible medically, scientifically, politically, and morally.
