Thank goodness we have sports! Just when we need a distraction from all the issues, real or perceived, facing America, we can lean into baseball, the great America pastime.
What is more American than an afternoon at the old ballpark? Hot dogs? Nope. Apple pie? Maybe. Baseball still perseveres as a nostalgic getaway, propelling us back to our youths and hot summer days playing ball.
Well, that was until the left, turd-in-the-punchbowl style, decided to inject misguided political statements into the mix.
Via WLWT.com in Cincinnati:
The Cincinnati Reds take on the San Francisco Giants on Friday at Great American Ball Park and the Giants’ manager says he will not be taking the field for the national anthem ahead of the game.
Following a mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, Giants manager Gabe Kapler wrote in a blog published Friday on his lifestyle brand website that he was taught at a young age to “stand for the pledge of allegiance when (he) believed (his) country was representing its people well or to protest and stay seated when it wasn’t.”
It sounds like his dad did a bang-up job—way to go, Gabe.
So let me wrap my head around what’s happening here. An affluent Jewish man born in Hollywood to lib parents, Gabe Kapler, who MANAGES the San Francisco Giants (that explains a lot), has decided to take the bold stand of sitting out the Anthem.
Yup. Maybe #GabeKapler can explain to us why the per-capita murder rate is so much higher in Democrat cities where @mlb is played than in Republican rural areas where they no longer watch these days? https://t.co/BWgdKA9gIx

Well, Gabe, I guess you showed America! Or how about this, accept that a psychopath shot up a school, and evil people will ALWAYS find a way to perpetrate evil. Regardless of what measures are put in place or what the left thinks you should or shouldn’t be able to own, evil will find a way. It is incumbent upon good guys to find a way to stop them. Sometimes the good guys fail. It happens. It’s tragic, and we must learn and get better because of it.
“I don’t believe it is representing us well right now,” he wrote in the blog post.
“Every time I place my hand over my heart and remove my hat, I’m participating in a self-congratulatory glorification of the ONLY country where these mass shootings take place. On Wednesday, I walked out onto the field, I listened to the announcement as we honored the victims in Uvalde. I bowed my head. I stood for the national anthem. Metallica riffed on City Connect guitars,” he continued to write.
Only country? Are you being serious, Gabe? Do you NOT have a television, internet access, or a functioning brain? America may not be the safest country in the world, but spend a couple of weekends in Mexico City, outside of the tourist areas. How about a lovely holiday in Communist China? A long weekend in Qatar, perhaps?
It’s foolish to think America is the only country where mass shootings occur. Just Stupid.
Perhaps the leftist atmosphere in San Francisco has seeped into what’s left of Gabe’s grey matter. Maybe he is sincere. It doesn’t make it any more meaningful or helpful. How about some suggestions instead, Gabe? Got any?
“I don’t plan on coming out for the anthem going forward until I feel better about the direction of our country,” Kapler said before a series opener at Cincinnati. “I don’t expect it to move the needle necessarily. It’s just something that I feel strongly enough about to take that step.”
Kapler said he needs more time to consider specific actions he might suggest be taken to prevent more tragedies of this type, such as stronger gun control laws.
Oh, ok, cool. I suppose we can all wait with bated breath to see what Gabe Kapler is going to come up with in terms of ideas or suggestions to make this dangerous, swirling cesspool of violence called America safer.
Perhaps Gabe should start at home, speaking of cesspools, and focus on making San Francisco more livable and less of a drug-infested, zombie-like wasteland. Maybe Gabe can stay in the dugout until that happens.
See ya never, Gabe Kapler.
