Bestselling author James Patterson — who, I swear, has a brand new book out every month — recently stated that there’s now discrimination against white male writers in the wide world of Hollyweird — oops, meant “Hollywood” — especially when it comes to older ones, referring to it as “another form of racism.”
That sound you’re hearing is not someone in the back making popcorn. It’s liberal heads exploding all over the country.
Sarah Baxter, an interviewer with the Sunday Times, pointed out that it was “astounding to think” that the author’s “success as a young white author was founded on the character of a black detective,” making a reference to his super-popular character Alex Cross.
“I just wanted to create a character who happened to be black,” Patterson replied. “I would not have tried to write a serious saga about a black family. It’s different in a detective story because plot is so important.”
“I get it. How could we run through that period, especially in Hollywood, where there was all this talent and nobody got hired?” Patterson went on to say, making a reference to minority actors and writers.
“Today, though, he worries that it is hard for white men to get writing gigs in film, theatre, TV or publishing,” Baxter stated.
The author then noted that the issue is “just another form of racism.”
“What’s that all about?” he went on to ask during the interview. “Can you get a job? Yes. Is it harder? Yes. It’s even harder for older writers. You don’t meet many 52-year-old white males.”
According to The Daily Wire, Patterson went on to say he’s not a fan of actors and other public figures “spouting off ignorantly about subjects they have gleaned off the internet,” Baxter said.
The author then said that he’s still “almost always on the side of free speech.”
How long do you think it will take before calls come in for Patterson to be canceled over these very true comments? It’s probably already happened by the time you read this, because, well, you know those liberal trolls on Twitter have nothing else better to do while living off the government teat, munching Cheetos in their mom’s basement.
Still, what Patterson said is absolutely true. You have Hollywood studios today that are more concerned with filling diversity quotes than simply hiring the right person for the job. There are plenty of talented black writers, actors, and directors out there, and if they happen to be the best fit for a given project, well, hey, get on board!
However, if a white actor tries out for the same part and is a better fit, just hire that person, don’t worry about their color. That’s only fair, don’t you think?
Filling diversity quotas does not highlight the hard work of creative minorities. It diminishes it instead, as it puts an asterisk next to their name, posing the question of whether or not they were chosen simply because of their skin color or because they have talent.
