Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer of North Dakota sustained a rather serious injury while engaging in some yard work over the weekend that required immediate surgery, and, according to news reports, may require him to undergo amputation.
Yikes. That’s a terrifying prospect for anyone to have to go through. Losing any of your limbs or digits is a life changer.
According to The Daily Wire, Cramer posted up a medical statement written up by his office on Wednesday.
“While working in the yard over the weekend, I sustained a serious injury to my right hand, which required immediate surgery,” Cramer’s said in his statement on the matter.
“I continue to remain in North Dakota close to medical care as there is high risk of infection and the possible need for amputation,” the statement added.

According to his statement, Cramer will now miss this week’s Senate business, although he did say he is planning to return to D.C. after the July 4th break.
Sen. Cramer has served the people of his state since 2019, when he defeated Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp.
I know what you are probably thinking. Yeah, this is definitely terrible, and you feel bad for the guy, but what kind of impact does this have on government business?
Well, believe it or not, it might have a significant one.
“Any extended delay of Cramer’s return to the Senate could be significant as Republicans and Democrats remain evenly split in the 50-50 chamber, with Vice President Kamala Harris as the tiebreaker,” the Daily Wire reported.
“Cramer, a ranking member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee, most recently released a statement blasting President Joe Biden’s upcoming request to Congress to suspend the nation’s gas tax,” the report continued.
“When gas is $5 a gallon, the American people aren’t asking for 18 cents of relief, they want the Trump energy policies back! Suspending the gas tax is nothing more than a knee-jerk political stunt providing minimal relief while blowing a hole in our infrastructure funding,” the senator remarked in a statement.
“Lest we forget, President Obama called this idea a ‘gimmick.’ Asking Congress to suspend the 18-cent-per-gallon gas tax is a feckless motion to Americans paying $5 at the pump to drive to work and take their long-delayed vacations,” he continued.
Cramer then drew his statement to a close by issuing a challenge to the Biden administration to make significant changes to its energy policies.
“If the Biden Administration is serious about combating inflation and lowering gas prices, they need to take a complete 180 on their energy policies and pro-regulation agenda,” Cramer went on to write.
We all know that Biden isn’t going to take any action to change up his energy policies, even though that’s exactly what should be done in order to provide relief for the American people during this time of economic downturn.
This is because Biden is beholden to the New Green Deal crowd and is refusing to allow drilling as a means of forcing the country to start embracing renewable energy, which we don’t really have the technology to do on a scale necessary to meet our energy needs.
The whole thing is a mess.
