Texas Republican Rep. Mayra Flores, who cinched a victory for a congressional seat that has belonged to Democrats since the 19th century, issued the perfect response to a video that reportedly shows House Speaker Nancy Pelosi pushing her daughter to the side during a photo op held at Flores’ swearing-in ceremony last week.
Is anyone surprised that Pelosi would be rude to someone’s child, especially one belonging to the first Mexican-born congresswoman who won a seat that has belonged to Democrats since practically the beginning of time?
The left really doesn’t believe in practicing what they preach, do they? All that tolerance talk and what have you.
“Video shows Pelosi motioning with her raised right hand for a pastor to come over for a photo. She then looks down at Flores’ daughter standing next to her, and Pelosi moves her bent right forearm to the right — apparently contacting the shoulder of Flores’ daughter — as the girl moves to the right at the same time,” TheBlaze reported.
Flores was none too happy with what the video revealed. No mother would be.
“I am so proud of my strong, beautiful daughter for not allowing this to faze her. She continued to smile and pose for the picture like a Queen,” Flores posted on Twitter, going on to add that “no child should be pushed to the side for a photo op. PERIOD!!”

So what did Pelosi herself have to say about the incident? Well, according to a piece from the New York Post, a representative for the House Speaker did not, at the time of this writing, return a request for comment.
“Flores defeated Democrat Dan Sanchez in a special election for Texas’ 34th Congressional District, which left other Texas Democrats seething. Flores said her victory shows Hispanic Americans believe they “have been taken for granted” by Democrats, while Sanchez said he lost because national Democrats didn’t heavily support his campaign,” TheBlaze report stated.
“It’s a great honor to welcome Congresswoman Flores to the Capitol and to the Congress of the United States with great congratulations,” Pelosi stated during the swearing-in ceremony, according to Fox News. “And again, grateful for her leadership and her beautiful family who is here today.”
Flores and Pelosi then shook hands and the ceremony went on without any incident, according to the report from Fox.
“Thank you, Congresswoman Flores, for your courage to run for office and best wishes for your success,” Pelosi stated during the ceremony, Fox News pointed out. “It’s an honor to work with you.”
Flores was originally born in Burgos Tamaulipas, Mexico, and legally migrated to the United States when she was six years old, Fox reported, going on to cite information contained in her biography.
The congresswoman then became a naturalized citizen.
Flores will be involved in another election this November against Democratic Party nominee Vicente Gonzalez.
As you might expect, liberals had opinions on Flores’ comment about the video. Because leftists never have an opinion about something, right?
Here are a few from TheBlaze:
- You can’t be serious,” one Biden/Harris supporter commented. “I just watched the video, and she nudged her. Big whoop.”
- “What are you lunatics talking about? At no point does Pelosi push your daughter aside or even so much as make contact with her,” another user wrote.
- “What did she do? She bumped into some kid who was sticking her elbow out. The kid needs to be taught not to pose like a fashion model,” a self-described “Democrat & Beto Supporter” noted. “Looks like her mom uses her as a prop.”
Look at that wonderful leftist tolerance and understanding. Doesn’t it just give you a case of the warm and fuzzies?
